  1. Recently i moved to 32 inch UHD 4k monitor using 3ds Max 2018, because since 2018 version Max is stated that fully supports 4k resolution with and without windows scaling (150% is recommended). But when i am using scaling 125 or 150% (In upadted to latest version of Windows 10) everything is blurry in Max, there is any solution to get crisp and sharp text and icons in Max with scaling, so it looks so sharp like without scaling? By the way Max 2016 and 2018 looks exactly the same on UHD monitor without scaling, i heared that Max 2016 looks like disaster on 4k monitors?
  2. Hi, i am buying new hardware and software for my office. I have for everything (hardware + software) budget about 22,5-25 $. I am thinking again and again how to spend this money in the best way. I have a list of things which are essential: HARDWARE: workstation x1 render node x? peripherals (monitor x1/x2, mice, keybaord, mousepad) external storage network: switch + cables SOFTWARE: Widnows x? AutoCAD LT x1 3ds Max Design x1 Vray x? Photoshop x1 I am thinking that proportion between hardware and software looks like this: hardware 14,5k-18k software 8k-10k $ Three main problems: Buying workstation (x1) based on: Haswell-E Core i7 E 8 core or Haswell-EP 2x Xeon E5-26xx v3 10core Buying render nodes (x?) based on: Haswell Core i7 4790K 4,0 GHz or (if this cpu i would buy 10-6 like this PCs) Haswell-E Core i7 E 6/8 core or (if this cpu i would buy 7-4 like this PCs) Haswell-EP 2x Xeon E5-26xx v3 10/14 core (if this cpu i would buy 1 like this PC) Buying super accuracy color monitor (eizo) or bigger screen (4k) or buy two but worst (2x30, 2x27 e.g. Dell) What do You think and what are Your advices, should i buy something more?
  3. I am buying new workstation and don't know which OS pick. Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8.1 Pro (since it is dual xeon machine)? The cost is the same. I heard that windows 8 with it's new interface is more demanding for GPU.
  4. I've compared Render Node A = 4 core 4790K 4,0 GHz (perm. unit: 10144 (each core 2536)) and Render Node B = 6 core 4930K 3,4 GHz (perm. unit: 12012 (each core 2002)). Price of 4790K 395$ and price of 4930K 637$ (in Poland). Total cost with soft of RN 4790K: 1341$ Total cost with soft of RN 4930K: 1788$ For 6 render nodes i get: 4790K (24 cores total) = 60864 perf units Price: 8051$ || 4930K (36 cores total) = 72072 perf units Price: 10727$ For 5 render nodes i get: 4930K (30 cores total) = 60060 perf units Price: 8940$ || 4790K (20 cores total) = 50720 perf units Price: 6709$ For 4 render nodes i get: 4930K (24 cores total) = 48048 perf units Price: 7151$ || 4790K (16 cores total) = 40576 perf units Price: 5367$ What do You think? Did I made a mistake with this 4790K = perf unit 10144 vs 4930K = perf unit 12012. Or Cost of one render node is too high? From this info it looks like it is better to buy 6x 4790K RN than 5x 4930K RN. (same performance, less price) (But probably more electricity)
  5. I have to test switches. About Razer I've heard many bad opinions. Now I am planning to buy this set of peripherals: Mice: Logitech G502 or wireless MX Keyboard: Corsair K70 or wireless K800 Tablet: Wacom Intuos Pro M (L I think is too big, and i don't know what is a diffrence between silver Special Edition?) 3D Manipulator: SpaceMouse Pro Wireless
  6. I am during some big hardware upgrade and I am looking for huge monitor. I've read that what probably all know that Nec SV Reference and Eizo CG/CX are just unmatched in color accuracy. As I am intrested in only big displays I'm thinking about Nec SpectraView 302 Refernece or Eizo CG277. But I'm also under very big impression of 4k and Dell UP3214Q panel. Just can't decide what to choose. Up to know i worked with two cheap monitors and i also love multi display setup. For hardware calibration I've choose X-Rite i1Display Pro. What is best to buy?
  7. Today nVidia introduced new lineup of their Quadro family: http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/quadro-desktop-gpu-specs-uk.html New gpus: K5200 - 8 GB K4200 K2200 K620 K420 Price range £109 (K420), £1,759 (K5200) Their are still Keppler based, not Maxwell. So I think it is far future from maxwell quadros. I don't expect much better viewport performance in 3ds Max, probably still better choice would be GeForce.
  8. Anyone using Razer Blackwidow or Corsair K70/K95? or maybe Logitech K800, K750? What would You recommend?
  9. Thanks! And what Gigabit 8 port switches You will recommend? TpLink TL-SG108 or TL-SG1008D?
  10. Ok, so great, i don't have to buy new router! So I can plug NAS also to Gigabit switch and i will have faster transfers between computers and storage. I have slower internet than 12,5 MB/sec so router can be 10/100 Mbps. Thanks!
  11. I planning to buy this 3 render nodes (photo). My question is if i will connect WS and RN like in the photo to one 10/100/1000 switch (but router is 10/100) will i have tranfers between WS and RN up to 125 MB/s? (i know cables have to be cat 5e or 6) Or i need also change to the faster gigabit router?
  12. So I think I would buy Quadro 2000. I wrote prices with tax already, without shipping cost. GTX 760 is too exspensive and I think Quadro 2000 is better than GTX 660 which also is a little bit more expensive.
  13. It is worth to buy 230$ older Quadro 2000 instead of newer generation K600 (200$) for worstation (3ds Max, AutoCad), viewport performance is the most imoportant.
  14. Thanks! It's very intresting option. I didn't knew that it is possible. Thanks again
  15. Is it possible to have in computer one radeon card for displays and second another from nVidia for rendering? I wonder how to build such a configuration and how it works?
