  1. Thanks for the advice Devin, I was freaking out a little but I was more focused on trying to get some more decent work produced. I worked for a charity a while ago and got some of the old test files resent over so I might re render and update some of those in max and see what I can produce.
  2. Good morning / afternoon and evening to you all. I would just like to say congratulations on all the work I have seen in the gallery in my short time on the site and I am envious of everyone's skills in the field. I recently graduated from a motion graphics and animative design course at Northumbria uni in newcastle, UK and I'm looking to get hired in a arch viz role but thanks to a power surge and windows my external HDD was wiped so I lost all my work from the last 3 yrs of my course. My Questions are thus: 1. When applying for arch viz jobs are mental ray renders still ok to use? as I know a lot of places would like or require Vay renders or knowledge. However my 4GB Ram and 2 GHZ processor laptop cant run VRay and I cant afford to get another one at this time. 2. I was talking to a gentleman from mustard recruitment on the phone a while back and he told me 1 exterior render and 2 interiors would aid my application to a firm in newcastle which has its own arch viz dept. and i was wondering what peoples thoughts would be on whats best to model / render for this application. 3. Because I was on an animation course I needed to use Maya and switching back to max is prooving troublesome and slower to pick it up than I thought would this be a massive issue or something i need to work on to utilize max better. Thank you for your time and hope you are having a great day. Regards Rob Brown
  3. Lookin good, in the 3rd image the darker section doesn't have a reflection like other objects in the scene. but looking good. interested in seeing the next set of images
  4. thats the thing nicnic its all to scale, its about 8ft across. it is a budget kitchen as its in a council high rise, not a great size though and with the small size of the model there isn't much room for camera views but its probably my scaling efforts. instead of 1:1 i think it should have been something like 3 in Maya units for every cm for a better scope for shots
  5. Thanks Ismael, I think i need a lot of help in order to get hired as a arch viz worker but im going to try to use some textures from my kitchen to make it as close as i can but there is a textured one here : http://www.cgarchitect.com/2012/08/my-kitchen3 however i did it as a test it still needs a lot of work
  6. Studio/Institution: 2500degrees Genre: Residential Interior Software: Maya + Mental Ray Website: http://2500degrees.co.uk Description: Here's my WIP of my kitchen. its not great but its a start I guess . I'm looking for comments, and any advice I can get. at the moment I'm just starting off in the visualizing business and looking to create visuals to get hired. any comments will help! Thanks in advance Rob
  7. Hey Morgan, have you tried other objects? and if so do they do the same thing? It might just be one of the maya bugs, I would try other objects for the same effect and try restarting it?
  8. Hey, yep yet another newbie here haha but I've been using Maya for the last 3 yrs on my uni course, hopefully I can help with any questions you might have
