  1. Hi there. Im am working on a aerial view viz for some roads in a residens area. The road network have a few intersections and turning areas pluss some sidewalks etc. now my question is how to put a good material for the roads. For grass and other large areas i use mix maps to create some good variations. But not sure if this works as well with a road network. Any tips and tricks for this guys? UW unwrapping is not my strong side, but maybe i need to learn this and create something matched i PS. Cheers!
  2. Hi there, just got a Dell 27" UHD monitor, and got one Dell 24" full hd monitor. Im using Win 7, and think things get overall to small on the 4k screen, so i tried to scale it in Win 7, but this feature scales both screens... Any other solution to this? Or do i need to upgrade to Win 8.1? Cheers!
  3. Hi there, im curently working on a project and recived many buildings in one fbx file. Im going to adjust the placement of the buildings in the z axis, from a terrain model i have created. But when i select for example the roof of one building, the roof of the other buildings will be selected. Any easy way to import everything into seperate objects? Then just group them in 3ds max? Cheers!
  4. Hi, looking into buying a new graphic card, considering these two. Amd Firepro W5100 or W7000, both 4gb. Mainly use with Civil 3d and 3ds max. Large terrains and architecture aerial renders. They seem very similar, anything to point out? Cheers!

  6. Ahhh, found out that you can create your Forest Pack in the Xref scene, and it will render fine in the main file:)

  8. Yeah, think this is the way to do it. Gonna try to make the terrain with 5m quads. Detach what i do not need, and then rerun the script for 1m.
  9. Hi, i just imported a large terrain model from Civil 3d to 3ds max, and uset populate terrain script. Because of the roadmodel beeing placed, i needed it to be 1m pr square. To fit it with the terrain. Now the model is realy heavy, and i whant to split the terrain up inn sections, so i can hide parts of it while working on the model. Is there a spesific way to do this? Whant to keep my model as much as i can as an editable poly.
  10. Hi, we are looking into maybe trying SplineLand for fast editing in 3ds Max. Main purpose, to insert roads that have daylight cut or fill into out terrain. Looks like its pretty quick and easy to do this with the plugin. Or is there a simple way to do this without a plugin? Remember, we need to able to create proper cut or fill.   12. Hi people. I'm about to map a terrain model im working on. (From Civil 3d to 3ds Max) My question is; How can i render out the whole landscape from top down and get it into photoshop to create the mask for the blend materials? And keep the right size of the map back into 3ds Max? I guess its more a question about the best workflow... Hope you understand what i mean:) Cheers!!
  13. Hi, I got a few questions about the workflow you guys use. Say i got a terrain model, and polylines indicating the parcels in regulated area. Do you go ahead and create grading groups in Autocad/Civil 3d? Or is it better to do this in Max? Mapping the terrain. I tried to figure out how to retain the UVW maping from the vertex paint when i update the terrain model, using Civil view to import the surface. But i end up in painting the surface all over again. Any workaround for this? Also about tutorials regarding this. Tried to serach the web, but cant fin many tutorials about this. So do you guys know about any good tutorials for enviroment/landscape viz? Any plugins/script essential for this? Downloaded Populate 3d's script for quadify the landscape mesh:) 3ds max forest pack pro Civil 3d Cheers!
  14. Hi, Creating a terrain and buildings for a vizualiation. We got map data from a dwg file with the roof prints in the right heights. The thing is, i need to generate those splines into buildings. Is there a easy way to this? What i tried so far is to extrude downwards until its under the terrain. Making sure non of the buildings are floating above the terrain. But then the problem starts when I want to create the roofs. Its a large amount of buildings. So to do it manually would be very time consuming! Any tips on creating the roofs?
