  1. Thanks Justin, let's hope things will pick up soon. I've also noticed most of the archi firms require ArchiCad skills.. I really hope that it won't affect my chances too much because I've never tried it. I may as well DL and try later. Is it greatly different from AutoCAD and/or SketchUp?
  2. Alright so here I am in Perth and settled down with an apartment. But still having trouble landing a job within the field.. Tried Hays but their listing requires xx years experience for senior positions only. Also tried google and e-mail different studios asking about vacancy. Perth's 3D market sure is small compare to Melbourne and Sydney. 70% of the mails I've sent have been ignored with no reply , and it really is depressing and frustrating.. May as well get a temporary job out there before I land a arch viz/3d artist job.. Anyways would be nice if fellow artists out there could help and recommend any possible studios or companies for me to apply
  3. Thanks for the tips but it looks like there are no info of any artists in Perth area :/ Should I try to contact those on the list and ask them for info? Worth a try I guess
  4. Cool, would be nice meeting you when I arrive. I'll contact you by then
  5. Hi Fooch. Thank you for the offer, too bad I am to head to Perth not Melbourne but I'll make sure to e-mail you if I do decide to go there Do you happen to know any in Perth?
  6. That seems to be the case. I've tried contacting the companies directly. Got few replies so far but they declined. So I'd like to know whether there are more companies than those I've found.
  7. Sure thank you I'll contact them and hope for the best
  8. As far as I know jobs through agency tends to be drafting positions only. I would be astonished too if I see agency posting "Arch Visualization" Not to mention those words are as unpopular as war crimes in their career list, be it in Oz, HK or Norway Sure love to have more info, those are never enough even hard to digest
  9. I do agree with that, but due to personal matter the relocating is to Perth and cannot be changed T,T I prefer working in studios but inhouse works fine too. Do you happen to know any in Perth area? Unfortunately no blogs or online folio available but PDF folio only. Still working on creating a online folio.
  10. Thanks for the prompt reply. I've been working mainly with AutoCAD and 3DS Max thus with Revit I may be a little bit behind. Not that I'm not confident but I just need some time to get use to it again. I don't mind doing drafting work but I prefer arch viz because that's the career I want. Am still looking around and sending letters whenever I find any. Got replies from Hays' agent stating that they hardly receive positions accepting overseas candidates and most of them prefer with local experience. Still the ageny recommend me contacting directly to the companies instead. Just like you mentioned in the other threads saying "What Australian experience do you have?". That sure diminish my hope of getting my foot in the door
  11. Hi all, May I ask for help and tips from Australian artist, arch-viz artist or anyone within architectural field working in Australia. I'm an architectural designer from Hong Kong/Norway and going to relocate to Perth in July. I've tried looking for jobs through agency (hays.com.au) and seek.com.au but so far no luck as they all require 5+ years experience, even as a draftsman. Anyone here could provide me insight and info please? It seems like Perth doesn't have that big market when it comes to Arch-viz or is it simply because the market is already full? Not that I can't do other jobs but I've finally set half my foot into this field I'd like to continue my career as Arch-Viz artist. I've checked Danil's thread (http://forums.cgarchitect.com/26864-2-all-australian-i-need-your-help-4.html), Carl's thread (http://forums.cgarchitect.com/27820-archiviz-jobs-australia.html) and Daniel's thread (http://forums.cgarchitect.com/13733-vis-australia-wa.html) regarding jobs in Aust, Perth. But those are relatively really old threads.. Also I've checked Thomas' thread about listing studios but there are only 2 available. I've tried contact those companies but still no reply. I consider myself a excellent 3DS Max user having experience in viz and animation, also experience in drafting with AutoCAD, Revit and more. Well that's my job as architectural designer in Hong Kong right now. I'm currently leading a team of 4 but not really titled as senior because I don't have xx years experience required to acquire that title?
  12. Nope, all the textures are self-made.. nothing imported or some sorts.
  13. Can't remember the render time.. half to an hour? something like that. I'm rendering high resolution image for presentation that's why. I reduced the bucket size for faster feedback during test render. So nobody knows eh?
  14. No I'm rendering on my own machine, which makes it really weird. I've set my bucket size to 10 which is as big as the square you can see on the artifacts. Which also means some bucket while rendering failed to render properly (?) I guess.. Thou the problem sometimes occur, and goes away after re-render. Still, don't want to re-render even with region render because it sometimes failed to properly calculating the lights and gives me a darker shade :/
  15. Hi all, Anyone here experienced weird render artifacts like I did? I'm getting bucket sized squares artifacts which looks like it doesn't render properly.. As you can see on the attached image, it mostly occurs on reflections.. both on mirror/glass surface but also concrete surface. Haven't done much on material settings but my render setting changed to following: Adaptive DMC : 1 - 50 AA : Area - 1.5 Irradiance Map : High with custom min/max -3/-5 Light Cache Subdiv : 2000 DMC Sampler: Noice Threshold : 0.005 Min. Samples : 10 Dynamic Memory Limit: 8000 Could possibly make it gone during post but it only gives me extra work and it annoys me whenever I see it. So please help and thank you in advance
