How to get subtle variation in flat surfaces?

Take the coloured walls in this photo for instance okkksmky.g4t.jpg

In reality they're not actually flat, and I'd like to simulate that subtle variation.

 

I am thinking something like a subtle bump map, however the problem is I'm not sure what said bump map should really look like? Had a good look in CGtextures' grunge section but there's nothing in there that looks like it has the look I'm after.

 

Any ideas?
