  1. Hi, I've been trying to find a photograph with a large group of people to place into a town centre retail scheme. The scheme is quite large so I do need lots of people moving in a natural looking direction. I could comp in standalone people however I don't think that looks natural with all the different light in each pic even if you do select pics that are lit in similar ways. My plan was to find one good photo and then work backwards lighting the model to match the photo. Does anyone know of a good photograph with lots of peeps or does anyone have any other suggestions for populating such a scene? Thanks Z
  2. Thanks It's 2cpus working with no HT
  3. Hi.. just got a new mac pro 8 and I am running windows on it.. partitioned drive! I am seeing 16 cores in the task manager on the mac side but only 8 cores on the windows side. I am using vray to render and I only see 8 buckets instead of 16.. any ideas what is up? I have installed all updates for windows 7. Thanks Z

  12. Hi; This is something I always struggle to model and texture well in my scenes and I thought I would ask how some of you guys create this part of a scene. I usually use sweeps for my kerbs and then extrudes for my paths and a combination of sweeps, lofts and extrudes for my roads. A kerb generator for c4d would be great. I have tried using spline spread for this but i cant get it working right when then kerbs have to go around a corner etc. Any advice would be great. Thanks Z
  13. Hi, I used the max camera match facility to create a vvm. We got all the necessary survey data measured up by a pro topographical survey company.. Has anyone used this max facility to create a vvm and if so could they give me any guidance on writing up the method statement. Thanks P

  15. Please rip this image apart and let me know what problems you think could be resolved. No photoshop work done on the image yet.
  16. Thanks Steve; so simple! Is there anyway to do this with a polygon or editable loft? Imagine you want the road to drape but it isnt made up of splines...
  17. Hi; A friend of mine was telling me about the new drape tool for sketchup. Imagine modelling up some contours - like a mountain. You then want to model up a road and let the road follow the contours of the hill. The drape tool allows you to model the road in plan and then kind of apply the plan view to the hill or contours and the software does the rest. It actually cuts out the geometry in the hillside and alters the contours of the road to fall into place with the hill. I would usually create a road in plan view then set the road above the hill and drag the vertices down until they landed on the hill and work my way along the road shaping it into place. Perhaps I am doing this wrong but... how do you guys do this in cinema or does cinema have a similar drape tool. Cheers Z
  18. yeah... It all adds up. 2 oct cores might be cheaper when you factor in electric, software KVM switches and monitors plus networking... A rock and a hard place!

  20. I have been looking at dan stubbs render king setup and the options do look attractive. I have never used a render farm before and was just wondering how they work.. if for example you have to setup a Light cache and IR maps before rendering the final frames how is everything put together - does the render farm control everything and you just forwrd the files and textures or do you create the LC and Ir maps inhouse then forward to the render farm and they setup the file paths etc. Any advice on this would be great. Cheers z
  21. hi all, just wondering what the best value to processing power way to build a mini farm... Need about 50 - 60 ghz of power along with 8gigs ram per machine..no need for fancy graphics cards or storage space / harddrive space. I know it's like asking how long a piece of sting is but anyone come up with A good solution to this before? Cheers

  23. Anthony; I am simply asking has anyone done this on a more complex animation. I have only animated a cube and exported it... that would not qualify for indepth testing. Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has tried this in the past. I will test today myself more indepth and let you know how i get on. Cheers z
