    Noise!

When you say put more elements in the scene, do you mean some more items? I have added some more lighting which has certainly helped so thanks for that.

    Noise!

I seem to be getting a bit of noise in this scene. The more reflective materials appear fine however the less reflective objects such as the bath / white walls / ceiling seem to be getting to much noise? any tips? Any replies greatly appreciated
  3. Let me explain a bit better! I have a gold leaf vray material which works great but I want use it to make a golf leaf mosaic tile material so I am trying to work out which channel I can use the tile map type in? The problem is when I use the tile map type in the diffuse channel, the grout lines give me just what I am looking for however I still get a diffuse colour mixing with my vray material. Is there anyway to just show the grout?
  4. What is the best way to create materials for bathroom wall / floor tiles? Is there a way that I can mix a tile material with a vray material?
  5. Thanks, for some reason when I am merging the models to my scene the materials are still not coming with the model. Should the materials appear in the materials editor once merged. I have already re-assigned the materials in the original file and they are rendering fine in that file?
  6. I am using some models from the archmodels series which are using vray materials. I dont understand how you are supposed to import models from your own librarys into specific projects.I know this sounds simple but I have never had to do it in the past????
  7. I have a number of 3d models all in different files which I want to use in 1 file, what is the best way to move these around? I have tried xrefing the objects but for some reason the materials do not appear to come with the objects?
  8. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for creating / rendering 3D floor plans in 3ds max + vray? Any replies much appreciated. Jan
  9. That was simple! thats brilliant thanks for your help.
  10. I have created a displacement map for a vertical tile hanging material which works well however gaps are formed at all the corners. How can I get around this? I have seen other people commenting on here saying that using the mesh smooth set to 0 will work however although this closes the corners on my image, I appear to loose quality? Please see image attached.
  11. thanks guys I do see what your saying and as I say I have been modelling the tiles in the past as I have the book brian! I have just seen several examples of displacement being used quite well. I am using Vray as my render engine but I think I will stick with using the modelling method for now! Cheers Jan
  12. and also if I model the tiles then I can not use the textures which I have and they work really well?
  13. I have been modelling the tiles in the past but this case is for vertical tile hanging and I do not feel that modelling vertical tile hanging is efficient?
  14. I am added a material to a roof which is a texture of play clay tiles. I have a diffuse map and a bump map which make the material look good but I want the tiles to appear stepped to add reality especially at junctions etc??? I know that I need to use a map in the displacement channel but what map can I use to achieve this effect? Apologies if this is simple, I am a student! Thanks in advance Jan
  15. Thanks for that, it is a great help. Do you know of any other companies that provide the same sort of thing?
