  1. Greetings visualisers! I've been making 3d animated plants for almost 10 years now. I have accumulated a huge database of plants and have found that I can't publish them fast enough. So I'd like to get your opinions on what's the most in-demand thing you can't do without. Also, of course, I would like to hear criticism: what to correct, what to improve - from the outside we often see what is not obvious to the author. Now I use Boosty platform for sale (you can buy one by one, you can take a subscription and buy a lot at once with a big discount), and I am developing my own site. https://boosty.to/plantagodelendaest
  2. Good Morning Everyone! so here i am a bachelor degree graduate in Architectural Building Engineering. I have above average knowledge of Revit, and below average knowledge of other 3D modeling software's such as 3D Studio Max. Actually 3DS Max is the only 3D modeling software i am some what familiar with. i am very interested in expanding my knowledge in the 3D modeling world and want to be proficient using the different software's to make amazing Renders like the ones i have seen on this site. My question is where do i go from here, as in practicing with various software. what software's do people recommend and any website that offer good online training. I liked 3DS Max a lot but is it really the best way to go with what i want to eventually accomplish? Thank you.
  3. Hello people of CG Architect!! One of my biggest problems, when creating a new project for an architectural firm is how do i go about doing the surrounding topography. I like to create most of my geometry in 3d, i am not a huge fan of using background images in photoshop, i like to create my background in 3d. Especially when we are talking about birds eye views of large estates or city blocks. But mainly my work is outside the city, so i dont usually need to find 3d models of cities rather mountains and hills is what i am looking for! I do a lot of projects for hotels, large scale buildings and i always try to find the model of the general area. Up until now i use sketchup pro, from which i grab topology+textures for the area. But since i like to grab a big chunk of area, this way is quite a nuisance. Sketchup has a small window that i can max grab, and it doesnt remember the last grap. Its really difficult to grab many tiles and have them not overlapping. Moreover, its quality in texture and actual elevations is really not that good. I know of Autodesk's Infraworks. Its a program mainly for constructing roads but it also provides a 3d model of a geolocation that you define. Other than that, i understand that you can get elevation maps from NASA (especially now that the ASTER program is free of charge) but the sites you can do that are really complicated and not user friendly. Moreover i am not sure i can get the data in high res, and get a texture as well as an elevation map. Although to be fair i haven't burned myself trying. There are some quite expensive companies that will provide you with 3d models but you have to pay like 2000 dollars minimum and that is out of i can give as a fee just for a 3d model of a topology. I want to ask the people of this forum, how do you go around creating your landscapes? Do you do them with pictures from photoshop? Do you use imaginary terrain that you have created from your mind? Do you use contour lines/autocad drawings and draw it by hand? Or do you know of a way to get real life 3d models of topology over the world without spending huge amounts of time/money? Any information you can provide on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
  4. Hello all, I need to buy a laptop for Architectural Visualizations, 3Ds max, vray and photoshop. I would like to know if anyone of you used a gaming laptop for these kind of softwares and if he is satisfied from their performance. By the way I am checking this one from ASUS G752VS(KBL)-BA337T Intel® Core ™ i7-7700HQ Processor (Up to 3.80 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, 6 MB Intel® Smart Cache) Memory Size: 16GB Hard Drive 1: HDD, 1TB, 7200U / minute , SATA Hard Drive 2: SSD, 256 GB, M.2 Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1070 8GB. Any advice or better suggestions would be more than welcome. p.s Unfortunately I need a mobile workstation because I am moving the whole time because of my work. Thank you for your time

  11. Hello everyone, It's been a little while since VideoTrace was first mentioned on this forum so I'd like to bring everyone up to date. When the technology was first unveiled at SIGGRAPH in 2007 it was part of a research project being conducted at the Australian Centre for Visual Technologies (ACVT), a multi-disciplinary research and education initiative (hosted at the University of Adelaide) focussing on the creation and analysis of visual digital media. Since then, the intellectual property has been transferred out of the university and into a private commercial entity, Punchcard. Here at Punchcard, we commenced a beta testing program for VideoTrace in late 2009 with a small (and closed) group of users. We've been progressively expanding that group over the past several months with each new beta release. While it's been possible for a few months now for anyone to register and try out the software, we haven't made a whole lot of noise about it as there were a few key features and improvements that we wanted to tackle before pushing it out to the CGarchitect.com community. However, we'd now like to invite you to join our beta testing program and try VideoTrace first hand. If you're interested, simply visit our website and enter your contact details (use the link below). We'll then send out an email in the next few days with details about how to get started on the beta program. Click here to register for the VideoTrace beta program. We're working towards a commercial release of VideoTrace late this year. Thanks to everyone for your interest in VideoTrace, and I look forward to hearing your feedback on the software once you've had a chance to give it a try. All the best, Jeremy Pollard CEO Punchcard www.punchcard.com.au
  12. The correct learning method for 3D CAD Design The 3D CAD program was designed to create 3D objects; therefore your first step into the world of 3D should be a simple project. Learning Mathematics has a lot in common with learning 3D CAD, You can learn features one at a time for as long as you like. When you work with multiple features in mathematics they work under special conditions, the conditions and rules changes as the combination changes. 3D CAD works the same way. The more different projects you get involve with, the better 3D CAD Designer you become / the more mathematical problems you solve the better mathematician you become. Very important Note: You only learn and practice features directly needed to your project, this is the only way to make real progress. The following is not a tutorial, it indicate the correct stages of creation, and the features you have to manage to complete the project. If you are new to 3D CAD and Rhino, it will take you few months to manage all the features and to create the 3D simple model as indicated below, if you try to do it on your own. Following good tutorials with technical illustration, you can do it in few minutes to few hours. 01: Select project and view 1. Select modest, small, and very simple test project, simple cup is very good idea. 2. Should the completed cup be in vertical position when completed? If yes, select side or front view to start your project. Your first feature to study is Views because it is directly needed for the project. Learning method for this chapter: Learn and investigate in person or watch an illustration in an image format, an instant learning method. 02: Create a Center Line, based on the cup height, 4” Long. 1. Set the screen Grid, as needed. 2. Ortho should be active, to insure straight line. 3. Snap can be on or off, on is better. 4. Create line, correct icon selection. 5. Activate the Analyze toolbar, for quality control check. 6. Dimensions set up, size and style as needed. 7. Start the line at 0,0,0 location, the intersection between X and Z axis (red and Green) Learning method for this chapter: Learn and investigate in person or watch an illustration in an image format, an instant learning method. 03: Start horizontal line, from the bottom of Center line, to the left, 1.5” long 1. Copy the center line to the end of the horizontal line. 2. At the intersection, copied line and horizontal line create a fillet .375. 3. Offset the join curves, before and after the fillet, .188 to the center. Learning method for this chapter: Learn and investigate in person or watch an illustration in an image format, an instant learning method. 04: Create a bridge line, at the top of the original and the offset curve 1. Create fillet on each end of the bridge, it should be a little smaller then .094, Fillet radius of .090 is good. 2. When you click on the profile, once only, the inside and outside shape should be fully highlighted, now it is one join section, it is complete, ready for revolve. 3. Chang to Perspective view. 4. Revolve the Profile to create the simple cup To get the best possible start with Rhino we strongly recommend, you start with the tutorial Vase01, see samples on my web site, it include 85 pages of technical illustrations, in image format, and you get excellent, technical support, if there is anything unclear or confusing with the tutorials. You should use the link Contact us on the web site. Please visit the web site at www.cad3dskills.com Regard Reuven Fogel
