  1. Hello Everyone, Looking for an answer from a PRO USER of 3Ds Max 2021 and Vray (6.10.08) I have this scene with 5 cameras, want to render animations. Setting primary engine to Brute force and 2nd engine to Light cache. Pre-calculated LC for each moving camera. Now I want to do batch rendering with their respective LC selected, and output required in EXR 32-bit so I could comp it easily in NUKE using cryptomatte. If I do the rendering in Targa, else I will have to render wire, Zdpeth, AO passes separately for each camera, this was an old method of doing it, which takes ages to get final output. Please suggest how to do it, is it even possible to do it in 3ds max ? Thanks
  2. I am creating 3d models using photos. Now I want to clean the meshes in 100s of models. Like I have to clean the wall tile scanned model mesh, removing the unwanted part. I want to know is there any method available through which i can clean the 100s of model made using photos taken at same angle. Basically batch cleaning of meshes is possible in 3ds max or not? Attached is the video , similarly we will have lot of meshes made from photos taken at same angle WhatsApp Video 2023-10-21 at 15.29.35.mp4
  3. Hi Everyone, I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Paride, architect and professional archviz artists based in the UK. Working in the UK for more than 5 years in the visualisation industry, I decided to create a platform where clients and artists can meet and collaborate. This place is now live at cgiFinder and it's welcoming 3D talents from all over the world. It's a safe place to collaborate following a pre-established set of revisions, so forget about working forever on a project, and be safe with our escrow payments. If you want to know more about this journey, you have any feedback and just want to say "hi", check our website or get in touch. https://cgifinder.com info@cgifinder.com
  4. Hi everyone, wanted to share one of my work in progress would be happy to know what you all think... thank you for your time☺️.
  5. I am working up some hobby Revit designs in 3ds Max using the vray library of materials and furniture to produce the renders. Revit has been great to model, but you cant get the same detail as 3ds max polygon modeling with chamfers. I have two starter projects here, which have some basic photoshop post production. trying to use HDRi for the site and avoid building landscape. Open to any thoughts, comments on how these could 'pop' - feel free to crit the architecture design as well My initial thoughts are that the texture maps need dirt/scratches etc
  6. Urgent Help needed I have panoramic photos from the clients, client used the drone. I have ready master plan. Now I need to match the camera in it with whole masterplan to be fit in the same panoramic photo. Client wants to show the land as Before and After. Is there any tutorial anyone can recommend please ? I tried to find relevant tutorial but it shows other videos not particularly the one I am looking for.
  7. In this video, we want to learn how to add shake and movement to the camera without any plugin and the best settings for exporting flicker-free animation within corona renderer in 3ds max. 8. Nevermind. Answered my own question. It's now included in the Viewport Control pulldown in the top left pulldown menu in each viewport: [+] Extended Viewports> Grid> Front, Back, Top, etc.. First of all, my apologies if this topic is buried somewhere in the vast message data on this Forum, but... I recently updated from 3ds Max 2016 to 2021. In 3ds Max 2016 I could set the active view to "Grid" (not "Home Grid", but to a Helper Object Grid). Amazingly, since Hotkeys were switched to a separate customization interface, this option/command doesn't seem to be available anymore. Can anyone please provide the correct information or workaround? Thx.
  9. Hi Guys. I am currently an architectural retoucher. however I have decided to train up on Arch Viz and so started the process of learning 3ds Max, Vray etc. I have just come to the realisation the 3DS Max just does not run properly on Mac. Bootcamp or Parallels. The recommended Nitrous driver crashes and the legacy driver doesn't work so well with menu options sticking and random things not working. So after 15 years of owning and being solely MAC literate I have to buy a PC. Thing is...... I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I need some help. What spec machine do I need to go for running 3ds Max 2017. What would you guys get? What do you guys use? I need to keep costs to a minimum without scrimping on what is needed. Primarily this machine will be used for training on 3ds studio Max Vray and will need to run photoshop lightning fast? Any advice you guys could give me would be very appreciated. Im of to cry into my iPhone now. Nick
  10. New Physical Material with 35 Presets, an Upgraded Sky Model and Average Performance Boosts of 15% Now Available for Artists and Designers PRAGUE, Czech Republic – July 21, 2021 – Today, Chaos Czech releases Corona Renderer 7 for 3ds Max, an update designed to enhance the realism of 3D scenes and boost render speeds across the board. From photoreal fabrics to expansive sky effects, Corona Renderer 7 makes it easier for artists to stand out. With 35 new presets for glass, metal and fabric, the new Physical Material makes it simple to set up hyper-realistic scenes in minutes. Though intuitive for beginners, the Physical Material also comes with multiple features for deeper control, including Sheen parameters for creating photoreal fabrics like velvet, and Clearcoat, which allows users to add lacquer to objects like cars without making them look plastic. To maintain compatibility with preexisting scenes, the previous Corona Material will still be available as a legacy option. In Corona Renderer 7, the Sky Model sees its biggest expansion yet. Artists can now accurately depict a digital sun and weather from any cliff or skyscraper using the new Altitude Parameter, which leverages real-world data to calculate what the sky will look like from any height. Meanwhile, the new Volume Effect improves the look of large-scale scenes by blending distant objects like mountains more naturally with the atmosphere. This effect is not only easier to control than a Global Volume material, it renders faster too. Faster rendering isn’t just limited to the Volume Effect. Corona Renderer 7 users will also enjoy faster render times, which can be as fast as 50% on scenes heavily using newly optimized features like better transparency processing and faster denoising. This boost even extends to data/scene opening, as files will now open quicker due to the background loading of Corona Bitmaps and Proxies. Other New Features Include: Glass Material Improvements – Create frosted glass that renders quickly with refractions on thin glass in the Physical Material. Industry-Standard Defaults – Automatically apply Roughness and IOR as material defaults for greater compatibility with industry standards, or switch to Glossiness and Specular when desired. More Control Over Metals – Control metals materials more intuitively using the default Edge Color parameter, or use Complex IOR for physically correct scenes. To try Corona Renderer 7 for 3ds Max now, please visit the Chaos Czech website. Pricing/Availability Corona Renderer 7 is available now for 3ds Max 2014-2022 (64-bit). Pricing is subscription-based, with monthly rates set at $28.50 and yearly rates at $330. A free 45-day commercial trial is also available at: https://corona-renderer.com/download. 11. Hi folks I am looking for a best solution to add huge traffic(May be 8000 vehicles) in a big masterplan. My primary software is 3ds max 2020(Vray Next), what plugin or any other thing I can use to animate this huge traffic ? and If I want to animated trees in the scene as well. I need to prepare a flythrough camera of 20 second to show the whole masterplan having canal running through and lots of roads across. Please suggest best solution for these 2 things (Animated trees and vehicles) Best regards
  12. Hi all, I've been contacted by a previous employer to do some renders for a project I was working on before I left over a year ago. The project consists of multiple pieces of furniture saved as their own solidworks part files, placed into an interior scene (assembly file). I originally imported the whole assembly into keyshot and made do with my computer chugging along struggling to cope with the tens of furniture items in the scene. I also didn't enjoy using keyshot for interior rendering which resulted in blotchy walls and uneven lighting. I would like to tackle the project this time using 3DS Max and V ray, possibly using V ray proxies to make life a little easier on my computer. Another issue is the models all have textures straight out of solidworks which aren't realistic, so i would like to re-texture each item with vray materials, and finally if i can do all of this, whilst keeping the layout of the furniture consistent to what is found in the original solidworks assembly that would be great. Having not used 3DS Max since I was in college many moons ago, I'm a little anxious but i would hugely appreciate any advice anyone can offer me on how to tackle this task. Literally any workflow tips would be fantastic. Thanks in advance David

  14. Hi All. I have been doing some renders of this car I've been modeling, and I'm working on some detail shots of the wheels, but I'm getting really bad noise in the glossy reflections of the rims. Here are some examples http://i.imgur.com/5Th5vAo.png Here is a render http://i.imgur.com/H997NZx.png here is the rawreflection pass. This is the only pass that has the noise, so I know it's a reflection problem. http://i.imgur.com/45dLZZ0.jpg Here is the sample rate I also did a test of more generic objects to see what's going on: http://i.imgur.com/BqGFrEi.jpg some shapes, no noise. http://i.imgur.com/1sP90Ns.jpg reflection pass http://i.imgur.com/GORJA5U.jpg samplerate As you can see, the generic objects are fine, but the rims get a lot of noise, and in very specific areas, and for some reason those areas are not getting enough rays. My only thought could be that those areas might be ones where secondary rays are doing a lot of bounces back and forth between the object itself. The settings for the render of the tire was using universal settings and took about 48 hours. I cranked the subdivs of the material up to 512 and that didn't make much difference. I did a lot of research on mental ray and the Adaptive DMC sampler, so I know how that works, so I thought I'd try the other approach and lower the image sampler from max 128 to max 8, 16, 32, and 64, while upping the glossy subdivs to 64,128, 256, and 512. I also tried upping the lights to 64, 128, and 512. In most of these cases the results were even worse than the universal settings, but they at least were much faster. I even tried setting the max depth of the glossy material to 1 and as high as 512. No matter what I try I am consistently getting noise in those areas and cannot fix it. After doing that test it seems like it must be something to do with the complexity of the object, but I cannot figure out how to solve this problem. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  15. Hello Everyone ??? Check out this new tutorial taking users through the amazing process of using a 3ds Max script called SubSpline, by SplineDynamics. SubSpline script works mainly with splines, and allows users to create an array of different selections, material IDs and ID Patterns with great ease. Users have unique spline functionalities such as to, Set ID Patterns, Copy/Paste ID numbers, Select ID Range, Randomize IDs, Reverse IDs, Randomize IDs and much more. 16. I would like to create a polygon from vertices in 3ds Max. When I try to create the polygon it says illegal new face. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  17. Hello Everyone. I know there it will be a very simple solution to this but since I'm new to 3ds max, I don't know what would be the answer so I came up here to ask you folks. I have a surface (attached herewith from Google Drive) that I import from AutoCAD and I know it's not having proper connected faces or whatever but I know I "weld" all the vertices in Spline mod and then convert it to Editable Poly but it end up with blank areas and I cannot fill these with polygon face. I need a quick tip to this that how I can connect or create a line between these two vertices to be able to fill them up. Most importantly, I don't want to give it any height or Extrude any of the "Gray color" surfaces shown in the picture. Any help will be appreciated. 20. Hello, I published my experiences in migrating from 3ds Max to Cinema 4D and Corona Renderer in professional archviz, on my blog. The time I started using C4D there weren't many infos on the subject – I was relying on forum posts and social media to find out what it likes to convert. I thought my experiences may be worth sharing here, I hope someone might find it useful! Read part one here, if you're interested: http://bit.ly/2nQOFIp

  22. Hello CGarchitect Forum, I was trying 3Ds Max because of Vray Next ive been using C4D for Years and the Interface in 3Ds Max is so Old and so intuitive and the Material Editor is very bad too, So i would love to hear why so many people use 3Ds Max?? Even Maya have a 10 time easier Interface.
  23. hello dear all! I don't really know if it 3ds max issue, but still i leave it here. Sooo... i have my pink moment. i had bought a brand new computer and decided to make a Cabin in a forest to train my skills in Substance Painter- i saw their beautiful Atlases and Biomass materials. But i have been facing problems. Yep, newbie questions with textile density and size of terrain and so on. Every tutorial tend to use Unreal with his terrain tools. i have a terrain. i want paint "road", add some pebbels, grass, leaves. (see pic.) What modern super-technological pipeline do you use for making a terrain for render in 3ds max? my thoughts: split terrain into many UVs/udim and textuting in Painter? Use scatter for 3ds max on a not so good texture? Use mask with two material in Designer (noooooooo) and go to Bercon tile in max. Add mesh road with texture and hide a border with pebbels and greens? Use WorldMashine? Just simple old Photosop will do it?))))) Maybe, there is some tutorial i haven't seen jet? I have seen so many tutorials. my head is spinning now. kill me
  24. Hello dear all. this is my 2nd attempt to post it, didn't find my old... How is contemporary pipeline for doing terrain for render in 3ds max (v-ray) i have bought a new cool computer and started my project of Tiny Cabin on a lake. I try to use Substance painter and i have faced newbie problems with textel density and so on... there are so many beautiful Substance Atlases and Biomass Materials! i have been seen so many tutorials, but they are mostly for UE. I have a terrain and want to paint road, wich gradually changes to green, add pebbels, leafs. what i need to do? -make road in mesh. split into UDMS and paint road and green. then make a mask material in Substance Designer and making some variations wit Bercon tiles for a terrain (nooooooooo it is hard) Connect textured Road and terrain with Bercon together in Max. Hide the seam with Multiscatter/fotrestPack greens and pebbels? Maby, i need to add some additional program? Help me please with advise, before i started to do some stupid thinks. maybe tutorial?
