NOTE | If you experience message about missing plugin "container object" you can download this very useful plugin from Niklas Rosenstein's site for free... 3. Hello everyone, My name is Plamen and I am part of the team behind Design Connected. As you probably know, we create high quality 3d models of designer furniture. We’re looking for an experienced Cinema4D artist to support us in the process of better adapting our 3d models to C4D + V-Ray. We need a professional whose suggestions to trust when we make technical decisions about what’s the right way to start offering Design Connected 3d models for C4D community. A very good knowledge of V-Ray for 3ds Max and V-Ray materials in general is also necessary. The tasks will vary from research to making technical and visual tests and others. If you are interested message me here or email me at plamen (at) designconnected (dot) com.
4. Hello, I would like to open a thread to collect some experiences and points of view about the workflow I've been using for the last two years, which is based on Sketchup (for modelling) and Cinema4d+Vray (for rendering, and adding entourage). The reason why I want to ask other user to step in with their own points of view is that I find this workflow really underrated: it's so hard to find information on the web, expecially in contrast with the "skp to 3dsmax" w.f. which has been broadly discussed and demonstrated (for example by some great artists like Ronen Bekerman or Peter Guthrie). I'll start by briefly explaining my personal workflow which I would like, after two years of usage, to re-analyze more critically, also comparing it to other users' experiences. In my case, I model the building (sometimes even part of the furniture) in sketchup, giving materials to every surface (usually I just use colours as placeholders, because I will apply the real materials later on in C4d). Important thing: in sketchup, I model everything as separated objects: for example if I have to model a bookcase, I will make every shelf as a group, as well as the main structure of the bookcase and then I will group everything together or even make a component. Doing so, helps me with keeping the model tidy but will also imply some ease of use in C4d. After having modeled everything and applied colours/materials in Skp, I move to Cinema, by exporting the model as .3ds file with the option "by materials" -but now I would like to give the "full hierarchy" option a try (never used the "by layers" option since I rarely use layers in sketchup). There many more things to be said about the "export texture maps" option, and the fact that the .3ds file will have separated faces and edges so that you will have to optimize the meshes in cinema, but I would like to start the discussion with the basic facts moving to details later. Thanks in advance to everyone who will join this discussion, hope it will help other people!

10. hey all, very new to this board, but it seems like this place has a lot of knowledge. I work in c4d, and would like to do some arch. renderings. But am wondering about how to do more parametric design in an architecural setting, with cinema. I have done some research and seems like Fusionthing or Paracloud GEM are two options, but it there really isn't any info on them since about 2009. Are they still being supported? The paracloud website isn't even working. Anyway, I guess I am just looking for anyone who has come across this question before, and how it was handled. thanks in advance! mb

14. Hi Im trying to create volumetric light passing between mirrors in c4d as shown in the photoshop mockup. The issue is I can only get this to work with parallel & spot lights which have a cylindrical shape and I need it to be like a rectange due to the shape of the mirror. I have tried an area light as it is a rectangular shaped light emittor which is what I need but it doesnt seem to work. I have also tried barn doors on a spotlight but that didnt work too. Any help would be great. Thanks Paddy
15. Studio/Institution: Visu'l Genre: Commercial Interior Software: c4d,vray & Photoshop Description: i have been trying to find a style for this group of renders, came up with this... comments please, i need input!
16. Ok guys, I recently moved to a new office and have jumped into using VRay C4D. I'm learning and developing, but I need a solution to a problem. I need to calculate and render real shadow patterns for a specific site. Is there a way to use a solar model and geographic coordinates with VRay Sun/Sky? This seems to be a pretty basic feature that just about every app can do, but I cant see how to do it with VRay. Steve
17. Dear All, Long time member but my first post - almost 7 years fascinated by 3D!! My workflow is always changing however, finally decided on the solid workflow for garden/landscape visualisation for comment: 1. Vectorworks > 2D survey and 3D modelling. 2. Sketchup > quick drafting of house doors and windows (as accuracy is not required) imported into VW 3. C4D > texturing, planting with 2D billboards and 3D trees / shrubs 4. Photoshop > (clone tool) painting plants for still images. (obviously no good for animations!) A few examples for comment and suggestions. Feedback very welcome. Thanks Nick. NDG+ Landscape and Garden Designers
