  1. Hello, Im trying to make Still Image of BAROS maldives Resort. I have attached the file but i need to make the same exact CAMERA match in 3ds max. I tried my level best to match the perspective but i was not able to do it. And according to google maps i applied the measurement to match but i was not "Caustics" is my other problem. Being a large area i was not able to get the caustic effect too in vray. I will be very glad to know the solution. Searched the internet for the plan and architects and much more. But i was not able to. Thank you.
  2. Hi, does anyone have a simple rhino vray scene of a swimming pool/water lit by an HDRI and with an invisible sunlight to give the caustic reflections and refractions that they wouldnt mind sharing? Have watched and read lots of tutorials, it seems like a straightforward process, but nothing seems to be working, would be very useful to reverse engineer someones file. Or any advice/input. I would really appreciate any help! Thanks Paddy
  3. I've been having some issues with rendering caustics today, something which I haven't had problems with in the past... so I figured it might be an issue with Vray 2.4 as I've not tried caustics since the update. A quick google search helped me to fix the first problem, which was solved by needing to uncheck 'affect shadows' in the material refraction settings... I'm not sure why this changed in Vray 2.4, it seems affect shadows ought to be checked, but I guess when caustics is on this overrides this somehow and calculates light / shadows / caustics accurately. I then went on to discover that Vray 2.4 doesn't seem to like rendering caustics from spot or omni lights (unless I'm doing something wrong) which is very annoying. It works fine with direct and vray lights. I can see that omni and spot lights are both 'unreal' lights, so perhaps vray have changed how they calculate caustics completely and spot and omni lights no longer work properly? I've attached 3 images, one rendered with a vray sphere light, one with a direct, one with an omni and one with spot. If anyone can 'shed some light' (eugh!) on this it'd be much appreciated. For now I think I'll just use vray lights, but it was nice being able to 'fake' caustics and render them much faster with a strategically placed spot light.
  4. Hi friends, Here is a wip of my latest project. Its a low quality with proxy hidden version. And i am facing a problem here with Vray caustics. Caustics is only visible in reflections and not in refractions(inside the pool). any solution? i tried asking in evermotion forum as well but no response yet. this is the only thing i am stuck with now and have to send this to client soon! Using Vray sun with HDRI for lighting. Attaching the images. Raw render: http://imageshack.us/a/img9/1818/error1fk.jpg Vray Caustics pass: http://imageshack.us/a/img32/6779/error1pass.jpg Will post the updated one after rectifying this problem. Advanced thanks.
  5. Hi, I am trying to render caustics on a flat plane. I get wrong regular strait horizontal lines. Here are some setting : -- direct light with caustics subdivs at 400000 -- "Indirect illumination" set to OFF -- "Caustics Multiplier" set to 100000 (!) -- "Max photons" and "Max density" set to 0 I get different distance between those lines depending on the rendering resolution. Since lines are regular, I thought it was a memory problem. Setting "Dynamic memory limit" to 0 and changing "render region division" does not solve the problem. The problem seems new because it was not occurring last year. I'm using V-Ray 2.30.01 and 3ds max 2013, all on 64 bits under Windows 7. Here is what I get : Thanks !!!
  6. Hello, I'm pretty new to max and I have an assignment due very soon and my scene is just not working out how i planned. My self illuminating materials on my light fixtures and the windows of the cruise ship are not glowing. Also there should be caustic effects showing in the water and I don't see any. I know there are many other issues that I will address after I figure out the issues I don't understand Any advice would be much appreciated. I've attached an image but the zip folder is too large at 42 mb to attach. Thank you, I look forward to hearing back from you.
