  1. Hi guys! Andrew here from GarageFarm.NET Sometimes it happens that you render your animation and the frames naming doesn't match your postproduction pipeline, or you need to send your files to somebody and there are some requirements when it comes to naming. In this case, you need to rename your frames, but of course, you are not going to do it frame after frame. In simplest situations, Total Commander renaming tool is enough but it doesn't cover all possible situations. So I decided to make two tutorials, one for Mac with vRenamer and second for Windows with Rename Master which show how batch to rename frames AND meet the following requirements: It's possible to batch-rename all frames names and keep the render passes names\suffixes intact It can batch-renumber frames accordingly for every render pass Works on subfolders (often used by Maya and Modo users for render passes) It's free How to batch rename frames in Mac with vRenamer How to batch rename frames in Windows with Rename Master I hope you will find it useful, and they will save you a lot of time.
  2. I saved every frame separately and now I need to put them together. What do you think would be the best software for that. After effects, vegas (i have these) or something else?
  3. Hello, I am new to animations in 3D studio and just created one for a client. My problem is I need to stop the animation at approx. frame 550(out of 1000), have something else happen for 100 frames, and then continue on with the original animation. How do I get the current animation to stay still for 100 more frames in the middle of a current animation? I am looking to have a 1100 frame animation. Thanks for the help!
  4. Hi all, I'm working on an animation with a fixed camera and individual objects that rotate independently. I'm rendering each object separately with alpha channels and several render elements to composite everything together in the end. Since each object is only rotating for about 15 frames (and then stays still) my desire is only render those 15 frames and then take the last frame and duplicate it as many times as necessary to finish out the entire sequence (without having to waste time re-rendering a non-moving object for tons of frames that are all identical). I have some file renaming tools I hoped might work, but nothing does the right job. Here's a scenario: the entire animation is 240 frames long object1 rotates from frame 150 to 165 I end up with frames named object1_0150 to object1_0165 (including add'l render elements) I need to copy frame 0165 (& elements) to make 0166 thru 0239 I can copy object10165 in windows explorer 73 times and end up with files named "object1_0165.png" thru "object1_0165 - Copy (7) - Copy - Copy - Copy.png" If I were using 3ds max's 'Rename Objects' it would be easy to set a base name plus a numbered sequence, but I can't find a file renamer that does the same thing. 'Quick File Rename' can only concatenate strings to the start or end (no number sequencing)...'Sequence 911' could create the proper sequence, but can't understand the sequence from the selected files with all the "- Copy"s in the name. Anyone out there have some trick for making this work? (Besides loading the frame into something like Premier and stretching it out the required frames and rendering a numbered sequence from that timeline...obviously I'm trying to avoid having additional render time when all I need to do is rename files). Thanks! John
  5. Hi. I`m rendering camera flythrogh type of animation in 3ds Max and V-Ray. It is 1800 frames, one minute and I render each frame to single file, png files, 640x480. I cannot render it to avi in one single take, since I have to use the computer for something else meanwhile, and stop the rendering from time to time. If it was shorter, I would load it all in RAM Player, all the frames and used Save As afterwards, choosen AVI and compression type. However, it is too much for my RAM (2Gb, under Win XP) and those frames can not load all together. I would appreaciate any help, as to how to do it simply, any recommended free programs that can join single image files into movie files, or perhaps I could load in Ram Pl. half (900) frames and save it as uncompressed file, load second half, save as part 2 and in another program join thosae big uncompressed avis into one, compressed one? Another thing is, I don`t want to loose any more quality than nessesery in this joining and compressing process, and that is also the reason why I ask, since perhaps someone understands it all better and can give me a hint. In Ram player, there are not much comp[ression options, like cinepak radius, or indeo video, and oin both situations when I test it on smaller frame counts, results (compressed avis) are not great, anyone got any good ways of compressing avis / mpgs or movs? Thanks for your time. - Tomek
