  2. This is my first ever post, be kind! So I'm a 3D designer, I design shops for the cosmetic sector full time. No one has thus far had a problem with my renders, but I'm not happy with them! I've seen other renders where they're too realistic to tell it apart from the real world! I want to be able to do this, but my eye isn't very good. I can mess around with all the settings to do what I want to do to the image, ie.. Increase GI to remove dark areas etc... But I can't seem to be able to recognise that the areas are too dark to be able to fix it! To be able to recognise that the lighting is wrong in areas is my problem, not that I don't know how to increase dark areas. (Lighting is only an example, I also struggle to recognise that colours are too vibrant and glass isn't refractive enough etc..) So my question is: What is your workflow? How do you replicate real life graphics? What techniques and advise do you have for someone at my level. Thanks in advance guys, any replies appreciated
  3. For the last few days I have been attempting to trouble shoot an issue one of our sales team has. When I am in a remote assistance session her ppt files open and load fine in PowerPoint 2003 (part of office 2003 pro). When I disconnect from remote assistance and she opens her ppt file it only opens the first slide and all the top tool bars in PowerPoint are grey and cant be accessed. The steps I have taken are as follows: Opened the offending ppt files on other machines they seem fine. Ran a repair on office 2003 from add/remove programs. Installed the office 2007 compatibility pack although only some of the PowerPoint files were pptx. I have searched the web high and low for a solution for this and cant find one single case with the same issues. I myself have never seen this before. The user is a local admin on her laptop. Office2003SP3 is installed. I have to add that there are no errors or warnings in event viewer. Has anyone seen anything like this?
  4. Thought I'd share a link to this site I stumbled across. Lots of cool Photoshop tutorials, including a few showcasing some of the new tools found in CS5. http://abduzeedo.com/tutorials
  5. I think it's graphics card issues but I wondered if anyone has found a way to solve it. I'll move around in the viewport or my cursor will move over objects and the viewport will be set to shaded but will go back and forth between that and wireframe, randomly, except when I'm not doing anything. As you can imagine, makes it hard to work. Seems like a draw problem. I've changed the display from open gl to direct 3d but same thing happens. And I believe everything's updated. I'm using max 8 and a Radeon 1600 card.
