  1. As the title suggests, I am building a workstation for my brother. He is a 3D Modeler and Digital painter in vfx industry. He uses following softwares : 1. Autodesk Maya 2015 2. Adobe Photoshop CS6 3. Pixologic ZBrush vR6 4. Autodesk 3ds Max 2015 5. vray or mental ray for final output rendering. My budget is about Rs. 2lakhs (approx 3165$). So, the following system is what I have designed: 1)Processor:- Intel Core i7 5960X Haswell-E....Rs. 72,499.00 (approx 1147$). http://www.primeabgb.com/intel-core-i7-5960x-haswell-cpu-processor.html 2)Motherboard:- ASUS X99-PRO X99 Socket 2011-v3 Motherboards....Rs. 24,560.00 (approx 388$). http://www.primeabgb.com/asus-x99-pro-x99-socket-2011-v3-motherboards.html Was going for asus x99-A, but for 2741Rs.(approx 43.51$) more, I will be getting additional wireless support. 3)RAM:- Gskill Ripjaws 4 F4-2400C15Q-32GRR DDR4 RAM Memory....Rs. 37,691.00 (approx 596$). http://www.primeabgb.com/gskill-ripjaws-4-f4-2400c15q-32grr-ddr4-ram-memory.html Since maximum amount of RAM power is needed during rendering. 4)Storage:- a)SSD: Samsung 850 Pro-Series 2.5" 256GB SSD (MZ-7KE256BW)....Rs. 13,000 (approx 206$). http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-850-pro-256-gb-laptop-internal-hard-drive-mz-7ke256bw/p/itmeyfbwnjarzvam?pid=IHDEYFBW2HJFNZSB&otracker=from-search&srno=t_1&query=samsung+850+pro&ref=45c47fb5-71b2-443f-a95f-d0eec24a1ec1 b)HDD: WD Black 1TB Desktop Internal Advance Format Hard Drive (WD1003FZEX)....Rs. 5,840.00 (approx 92$). http://www.amazon.in/WD-Desktop-Internal-Advance-WD1003FZEX/dp/B00FJRS6FU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420222608&sr=8-1&keywords=wd1003fzex 5)CPU Cooler:- CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Extreme Performance Water/Liquid CPU Cooler.....Rs. 10,250.00 (approx 162$). http://www.amazon.in/CORSAIR-Series-Extreme-Performance-Liquid/dp/B00B4OCW7K I was going for nzxt kraken x61 but its unavailable here 6)OS:- Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit.....Rs. 8,890 (approx 141$). 7)Cabinet:- Nzxt Phantom 630, CM storm Trooper(without window), Corsair graphite 780T or corsair carbide 500R. 8)PSU:- I don't know how much power will be required. I have already bought the processor, RAM, ssd+hdd since there was new year's sale. I have nvidia quadro 2000 graphic card in my previous rig. I will be using that. 630, trooper or 500r selected solely because of their side fans. As I am planning for AIO cooler, I don't want to overlook cooling of gpu and vrm. I live in Mumbai, India and here, in summer, temps rise around 35C. Also, the rig would be used for about 15 to 18 hours daily. So I am leaning towards cases with side fans. Also I am planning to overclock upto 4.5GHz if possible. So, please suggest me the proper case, psu and let me know if I would be requiring any more fans depending on how much power I would be required and how much heat will be generated. PC would be used for work purposes only and no gaming will be done. Ahh! Sorry for the long post but want to clarify all points. Please help. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi guys! This is my first post on the forum so first of all i would like to say hello to all members. Currently i'm in the process of buying a new computer. I would like to say that i'm no expert and that the configuration i'm going for is based on what i read in the last couple of weeks (many thanks to the people posting on this forum, they were very helpful). I would like to pick your brain for some final thoughts. First of all the config is: CPU i7 5960x. Motherboard Gygabite GA-X99-UD4 Crucial 16GB DDR4 2133Mhz CL15 Dual Channel Kit GPU EVGA Nvidia GTX 760 SC 4GB PSU Corsair Professional Series Platinum AX860 Case NZXT H630 Matte Black HDD Seagate Descktop HDD 3TB 7200RPM 64MB Sata III SSD Samsung 840EVO 250GB Sata III 2.5 inch Monitor Dell 2414h Should i go with the Asus x99 Deluxe Motherboard witch is more expensive? Are Asus motherboards better? Do i really need all that extra stuff on the Asus since i'm not planning multiple GPUs? Is the Asus motherboard better for overclocking? I went with 16GB of RAM instead of 32 because i've already exceeded my budget and i wanted to buy the 5960X CPU. Maybe upgrade to 32GB of RAM in a couple of months, if needed. Based on my calculations the 5960x CPU is at least 30% more powerfull in comparison to the 5820K. Is the GTX 760 GPU a good fit since i'm not interested in Vray RT, only in viewport performance? Thanks for feedback.
