  1. Hi! I´m an architect student, really new to this. Until now, I have made renders in the internal engine in ArchiCAD, and that´s about it. But now, I´d like to try something new. I have a Mac, and I realize that this eliminates a whole lot of options for what program(s) to use? Thought about Cinema 4D, but I also heard that Corona works with Mac now? Any recommendations? Also, my Mac is quite old, will it handle renderings on a more advanced program or do I have to upgrade? I have a MacBook Pro 15¨ 2011 with these specs: - 2 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB Will be using it for architectural visualizations, interiors, facades etc. Thank you, - Erik
  2. Hi All, I am concidering processing with an upgrade to a Mac Pro 2013 from an old 2008 Mac Pro tower. I have some queries with regards to the change. Specifically - has anyone been using sketchup with Vray 2.0 on this machine? Do you find it works well? And have you any issues using Vray RT or all areas of vray. All help, and experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. (copy thread from vray forum, sorry there were no replies there) Hi, I currently use vray for cinema4d on my main mac computer. I'm wondering whether I can set up nodes with a windows computer for DR. Is there compatibility even if the standalone is windows? If the answer is no, is there any way of getting around this conundrum? Thanks, Tarin

  5. Hello! I'm a second year architecture student at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). I'm using a Mac and am in a bit of a dilemma regarding which renderer to use. I'm modeling in Rhino for Mac. Things I look for in a renderer are: - cheap (less than 100$, or torrent-able...i'm guilty, i know) - preferably unbiased (like maxwell, keyshot....not vray) - photorealistic (our school has quite high standards regarding presentations) - unlimited resolution (for big prints... 100x70cm) I know I could use bootcamp and/or virtual machine with windows, but i really hate switching between to operating system during work Any suggestions?
  6. Hi there, I am looking for to invest into a new machine. Could you suggest what the best specs I need to have so computer will not suffocates itself during renderings. Revit, Max, Rhino, VRay, Adobe Suite, AutoCad. PC preferably but MAC is ok too. Thank you very much
  7. Hi there, anyone knows if the next version of 3dsmax (2012) relased in april i guess, i'll be compatible with mac without using bootcamp or parallel desktop? i hope it'll be because i'm seriously thinking in buying a mac computer, thanks a lot.
  8. Hello! As my first tread here I'm looking for some advise on my workstation build. It's mainly going to be used with CAD-softwares like ArchiCAD, Rhino, Revit and SolidWorks. Usually this work also involves rendering with V-Ray for Rhino, 3Ds Max and hopefully Octane which I haven't used yet (any suggestions on good GPU-renders are welcome!). Budget tops at about 3800USD Here is the list at Amazon http://amzn.com/w/14JIXAPLSV0EF CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K - As I'm in no need for ECC and more than 4 cores this is a obvious choice. MB: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 - Gigabyte make good MBs and it's quite priceworthy RAM: 4 x Kingston Technology HyperX 1600 MHz 4GB - Should be the best and most reliable according to my sources. GPU1: PNY Quadra FX 1800 - Got a great price on this one; 1400SEK (about 210USD) GPU2: PNY XLR8 Liquid Cooled GeForce GTX 580 1536MB - Why the overpriced one? It comes with a liquid cooler for both the GPU and CPU which is great as I'm trying to build the workstation as quiet as possible. SSD-HDD: Corsair Force Series GT 120 GB - Has gotten the best reviews HDD: 2x Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB SATA III PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold (SPG) 800 Watts - Might have to go up to the 1000W IF I'm going to used 2 cards. Display:2x Dell UltraSharp U2412M - Has gotten fantastic reviews and is almost the best you can find after calibrating it. Display Port, S-IPS and LED plus 16:10 ratio! --- Less relevant section ---- Case: Fractal Design Define R3 USB 3.0 Fancy mouse: 3Dconnexion SpacePilot PRO CD/DVD: Cheapest one... One of my main questions. Will I be able to use both cards at the same time (Quadra for OpenGL and GTX for CUDA) and would it be the optimal solution at the price of about 800USD? Have in mind that part should be able to ship to Sweden or at least via a US-forwarding service (that does not mind sending as gift :-), suggestions anyone? ) Analyze and criticize, pleaze! //Olliie
