  1. Hi all, Please could you help. I am trying to create and effective brass. I am doing this in principle by having a black diffuse colour (for the reflections) on the surface;a reflective layer with a falloff map for a range when material changes, and a Glossiness of 0.7 Attached is a screenshot of current issue.'Side two' shows promising results, black reflections etc. However as you can see it does not pick up the table lip profile. In order to get this shown as in Side 1 I had to add a dirt map to the diffuse layer (which was the black reflections) however this then cancels the effect of the black reflections. I have tried two diffuse layers one for dirt (in the transparency slot, and one for the black reflections to allow one to bleed through. However, this has not worked at all) I hope this makes sense. Any urgent help would be so appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Hi guys - I am working on an an accelerated animation (~6 seconds) showing the Statue of Liberty going from shiny copper to green worn copper and I am having a hard time determining how best to transition between the two materials. I have tried using both Composite and Blend materials, but going from a highly reflective material to a matte material just doesn't look "right". You can see what I have currently here: (make sure to watch in 1080p Any suggestions on how I could transition between these two materials and create a convincing, "realistic" affect would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Much, Max
  3. I am making a terrazzo material for the floor in a rendering and would like the joints or seems of the terrazzo tiles to show up as a shinny metal material. I am using iRay to render and Arch+Design material with Tile set as the Diffuse map. I have a bitmap selected for the tile color and for now a light grey color for the grout. Ideally, I would make the grout this shinny metal material but I am unable to select anything but colors or bitmaps or other 3ds max "standard" materials. I don't believe any of these can offer the reflectivity I am looking for. Does anyone know a way to achieve this? http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/3408/tilematerial.jpg http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/6317/terrazzot.png The top image show my material in the Editor. The bottom image show my render output, you can see that the grout isn't shinny like it should be.

  7. Hi everyone. I'm in the final stages (7 days left) of my project and I need to find out how to give my building a surface so that it appears like metal cladding. Ideally it would look something like the included image once rendered out in Maxwell. I don't absolutely need to be able to get close enough to see the seams but detailed enough to be able to see what it is. I have lots to do still so ideally it would just be a question of a texture. If so, where would be the best place to look? Similarly I have some panels that are of the same material but perforated such that renders would let light through it. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Best regards, Teo
