  1. Good morning everyone, I am sure there are people around having the same issue as me. I have noticed in a recent project that vray uses 100% CPU power when doing a rendering with override material enabled. However, when the render with the same settings is run, the CPU consumption oscillates between 40 and 60%, never reaching 100% during any part of the rendering process. It actually seems to me the speed is related with the materials. I await for your comments and I hope any of you helps to solve this problem and optimize the use of my resources.
  2. Hi, just made a new machine and I would like to take care with an UPS but I don't know anything about, how to dimension it and which brands are good. my configuration is like that: CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K Hexa-Core CPU Cooler:Corsair Hydro H110 Motherboard: Asus P9X79 WS RAM:--32 Gb-- G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB 240-Pin SDRAM DDR3 1866 x 2 Graphic Card: nVidia Quadro K4000 SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2 Black PSU: Corsair AX1200i 80+ Platinum Optical Drive: ASUS DRW-24B5ST in the future I'd like to add more graphic cards (something like 2 x gtx) and I have also to plug in a 27'' monitor, router, switch and a NAS. I was looking to something like that: http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?ProductCategory=POWER&ProductGroup=UPS&artnr=17678 any suggestion?? thank you Ale
  3. Studio/Institution: NLnovalink Client: Bruce Power Genre: Commercial Interior Software: 3DS Max (Mental Ray) Website: http://(under construction) Description: Hey all: This is my first post and my third week of using 3DS Max with Mental Ray rendering engine. I'd love to get some comments/tips for rendering interriors in MR. My biggest question, currently, is: what is the best way to create accurate flourescent lights? I'm using free photometric rectangular lights (20 of them) and I'm noticing a huge render time increase as these lights require quite a bit of time to converge on an accurate solution. Also, notice some of the noise on the large green dcc units at the back of the room (farthest from the camera). I've tried to get rid of that with no positive results. -Tron
