  1. Hello Everyone ??? Check out this new tutorial taking users through the amazing process of using a 3ds Max script called SubSpline, by SplineDynamics. SubSpline script works mainly with splines, and allows users to create an array of different selections, material IDs and ID Patterns with great ease. Users have unique spline functionalities such as to, Set ID Patterns, Copy/Paste ID numbers, Select ID Range, Randomize IDs, Reverse IDs, Randomize IDs and much more. Watch the Video and Download Script: https://jamiecardoso-mentalray.blogspot.com/2020/10/subspline-script-with-3ds-max.html I really hope you find the tutorial useful, like, comment and share it. Ta Jamie

  4. Im planning on buying a new desktop system for a fairly small budget (~$1100 AUD) So far i know i can get a GPU-less system new for just over $800 including case and everything needed to operate (Intel HD 4600 with the CPU) Which includes CPU: i7 4770 3.4GHz HDD: 1TB 7200rpm RAM: 16GB 1600Mhz PSU: 750W = ~$810 AUD When it comes to GPU i am struggling to choose. I can get a GTX 760 2GB for $300 Or an Quadro K600 1Gb for about $200 I know that the GTX kills the K600 on most benchmarks but my main work will be inside 3DS and Vray CPU rendering, and i've read a few reviews showing the k600 with much higher viewport fps than the GTX 670 (and no doubt the 760). My main concerns are: - Will the 1gb ram of the k600 be crippling? - Will the GTX760 leave the K600 for dead in Vray active shade? - Will the K600 have the same advantages in performance in Adobe CS6 suite as in 3DS Max viewports, or will the GTX 760 stretch its legs here? Thanks in advanced! Josh
  5. Hi, I'm an architect occasionally doing cg models with videos and walkthroughs. right now I use windows movie maker to create my presentation but its far from my needs. I would appreciate some advice on the most simple (must) cheap (preferably) video authoring software to do the following: must have features: 1. accept most popular video file types with sound. 2. allow to add multiple videos and mix/ cross-fade between them, like having a separate day and night view videos and going from day to night without actually simulating it on the 3d software. ALSO allow for more than one video on screen with some type of divider (yes complicated) - maybe to show the project from above with a facade both moving at the same time. or show house plan with interior at the same time, etc. 3. allow more then one sound file at a time. at least one from video file and added background music. also allows to add different background music files and mix/crossfade between them. 4. allow to cut/edit/paste video parts. 5. has the ability to add text - with as many as possible pre defined text effects. preferable features: 1. video editing: color correction / pre-defined color and style effects. 2. allow complex annotations - add arrows/boxes with text to indicate important information. - really really want this - but can live without.. 3. as many as possible presets for effects and edits to make the video live and interesting - fast. 4. has a rewind effect - to go through an important part, "rewind" and show it again for better impact don't know if something like this exist since I did google and searched this forum, but maybe with 2 simple application, one for some and one for the other features I can get all of the above done? thanks in advance,

  23. A series of short videos show simulation of water, smoke and more using the Phoenix FD plug-in Phoenix Fluid Dynamics combines a grid based simulator with outstanding rendering capabilities that accurately reproduce fluid behavior. It’s the solution to rendering waves breaking along a shore, a lit candle, or an explosive cloud of smoke – just to name a few. The plug-in’s many features, which can imitate processes like pressure decay, thermal radiation cooling and mass-temperature dependence, have been captured in a series of videos created by VFX Technical Director and Autodesk Certified Instructor Michael McCarthy. McCarthy, whose background includes work in the broadcast, feature film and gaming industry, introduces Phoenix FD with a set of tutorials that walk you through the basics of flames, fluid maps and liquids. He then demonstrates examples of possible simulations in sixteen short video clips. Such simulations include the liquid simulation of a fountain, liquid fuel to flames, and particle flow from an explosion. To watch all McCarthy’s videos and receive updates on Phoenix FD, please register here

  25. I`ve recently bought the Canon T2i (the budget solution). One of the reasons was the capability to record video in flexible formats. For video I have a Sony VX2100 camcorder but the image is flat (useless DOF). I`m thinking to use the DSLR for short videos with a prime lens (F/1,8) and variable ND filter to control the light. For dramatic angles I have an 8 mm fisheye lens used primarily for panoramic images. Any comments about similar experiences are welcomed.
