Jape
This must be the first nighshots (w/o flash) i did in my life. Took them with a Nikon D70 all shot in The Hague/Scheveningen without any flash or moonlight. I posted my three best shots, i took me a couple cause no tripod was used so getting it sharp was hard. Beside that my worst enemy was noise beceause of the high ISO setting but a little post-photoshop work reduced it a bit. The Boulevard ISO : 800 Shutter : 4" Aperture : F3.5 Focal lenght : 18mm http://www.venviz.nl/Boulevard.jpg The Lighthouse ISO : 800 Shutter : 1/1.3 Aperture : F4 Focal lenght : 18mm http://www.venviz.nl/Vuurtoren.jpg The Museum ISO : 800 Shutter : 1.3" Aperture : F4.5 Focal lenght : 48mm http://www.venviz.nl/Museon.jpg Any tips and crits welcome and post your own night shots ! derijones
Nice pics - I like that style Mine would be all black I live out in the country and can count 8 lights from where I live - but get cool stars - I must get some decent pics of the Milky Way someday - some friends came to visit and asked if it was a cloud- they took some convincing it was the Milky Way as it's so clear! Cheers Deri

DennisHolland
Ha Jaap, Nice quality. Ofcourse Scheveningen at night is super-inviting for a good shooting.... I'm in research myself in advance of purchasing a good, extendable and userfriendly camera myself. I will post a topic today in the proper forum section. Maybe you can give a lecture on what to buy within' a certain price/quality range in that topic as well? Thanks, groeten en succes. Dennis

Jape
NICE! Nuno, especially the last one i like very much, crispy and sharp. Nice city you've got there btw. I've had the time to experiment a bit and came up with the next shots, i really like the third one. Fourth one has some photoshop work in it as you all can obviously see #1 Sunset #2 Sunset

(and i'm loving it, really fast with D70 RAW files). i only use PS for crop.
nuno
WOW! That makes me want to run and buy a D70! Congrats! thank you... you really should buy one...hehe i love my camera... it's a shame i cant extract all from D70 yet. i need to buy a new lens... i use the one that came with my D70 (28-80G), a very poor lens. i am thinking of new tamron 18-200 di II.... do you know this lens? what advise can you give me on lenses? anyone else could help me too? Jape
tnx... your sunsets are lovely shots. what kind of PS work did u apply to it? i'm trying c1 for just WB adjustments, sharpening, and NR. (and i'm loving it, really fast with D70 RAW files). i only use PS for crop. For the sunsets i just adjusted the curves a bit to get the shadows/silhouets a little darker. I use Nikon Capture mostly for my post-processing and with most images i use some unsharp mask to get the pictures somewhat sharper and a little color-boost to saturate the colors a bit, but the last is a little personal i think, i like the strong colors that pop out. Still working with the 30-day trial of Capture but its certainly a superb program, a little slow i think but certainly worth the $149, ill probably buy it at the end of the month. vadhor
There is my shots taken on Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC40 from hands Fullsize I'm think that Panasonic cams is not very good choice for night shot. Too many noise.

ShaunDon
Night photography is so much fun. Most of the time I'm out with friends though, and no one wants to wait around while you set up a tripod and bracket six shots at 8-10 second exposures. ;-) Here's my contribution: 1) Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on the Piscataqua River (Portsmouth, NH) 2) M.I.T. Marina on the Charles (Cambridge, MA) 3) Boston Skyline over the Charles (Cambridge, MA) 4) The Old Town of Krakow (Krakow, Poland) 5) The Wawel Cathedral (Krakow, Poland) Great thread! There's some nice images up in this piece. Shaun
