garethace
What is the highest rate of MPEG 1 encoding any of you have achieved? Just the little 320x288 25fps stuff? The highest i can get on desktop equipment and SDRAM is around 8-10fps, depending upon which freebies i tried with the 5% limitations etc, etc. If you have any quick specs/times for SVCD and DivX it would be interesting too. I don't think storage speed has a huge baring on things like this, does it?
garethace
Quite a nice little magazine here btw Greg, in case you are interested: http://www.irishcomputer.com/index.html Check out what i have to deal with here, the bit on 'No improvement in Irish software piracy'. I have completely lost all hope now, in serious implementations of MAX/VIZ products in house with architects over here. I reserve my multimedia, to a small bit of humble ripping at home etc, etc. I am going to try out a couple of different memories, cpu brands, speeds, memory amounts, storage drives etc, etc, etc but i think it is mostly about brute force.
