nunocaldeira
When I create a box(poly) in 3ds max and put lights outside it, even with 2-sided and cast shadows switched on I get light leeks into the box (only on the edges). Does anyone knows why is this happening? Am I doing something wrong? Thank you, (Sorry about my terrible english), Nuno Caldeira
DennisHolland
Yes Nuno, I assume that you want to create an interior (room or something) out of a box? You'll get these thin lightleaks on the edges especially on the floorside...You must have used a shadowmap instead of raytraced shadows. To avoid any leaks at all just create a box, put a smaller box inside and substract (boolean) the small box. It gives you thicker walls to work with, apply raytraced shadows and it should be fine. Good luck, Dennis
nunocaldeira
Thank you Dennis! That will make me develop another method of modeling, because I never make the wall thickness ( I just make it apearent - by extruding out some portions of the main box ). In this case - lightleaks - (please, don't laugh!) I shadowed the afected areas, outside the box. From now on I'll use the method you described. Again, Thank you, Best regards, Nuno Caldeira
pixelperfectg
To avoid any leaks at all just create a box, put a smaller box inside and substract (boolean) the small box. Or just add a shell modifier to a box.
