trhoads
This is a project that I have been working on for about a week and a half. The modeling took almost a week, there are three other sides that are modeled for a lengthy animation. Attached is the first still frame view that we will use, and I wanted to try and get some feedback. It does not have the softness that I wanted, and suggestions on that would be great. Any other comments would be great, this one will be in house for a while being worked over. Thanks in advance, it is much appreciated.
Andrew Schroeder
Hi Travis, It's a nice model, the animation should be great once you're done. With this still frame though, I would suggest bringing the camera down a bit and adding a camera correction modifier to it. Also, there's a lot of contrast in the scene which is generally a good thing, but here, the darks are very dark, and the whites are very white. Take the curbing, or the white wall for example, versus the shadows, windows or car. Other things I notice are the grass (looks more like a soccer field), the flowers (repeating pattern), the concrete (tiling a little), the plant on the second floor balcony is floating, and the horizon is blank. Looking forward to seeing more as it develops.
mohamedberry
nice work, great model things i dont like: RPCs (cars & plants), the grass repeated pattern & your hard shadows. try working on these stuff and i'm sure u'll get a better result
STRAT
it's crying out for radiosity
trhoads
nice work, great model things i dont like: RPCs (cars & plants), the grass repeated pattern & your hard shadows. try working on these stuff and i'm sure u'll get a better result Thanks for the comments, but there are no PRC's in this scene. the cars are 3d models, as are the plants. The trees are excluded from my light dome, becuase they get washed out, that may be causing some of the confusion. Is there a way to soften the shadows in VIZ 3i, I know that the newer releases have the ability to blur shadows, but can it be done in VIZ, or do I need to do it post process? And yes STRAT, I too am crying out for radiosity, but I have to work with what I am given, VIZ 3i. One of these days they will buckle and let me upgrade. But since rendering is not our primary business, and our clients seem to love the results, I am fighting a loosing battle. Thanks for the feedback. Andrew Schroeder
Hmm not sure, but vrayfree might work with Viz3i, if it does, it might be a good route to go until your upgrade.
trhoads
^^ Vrayfree owuld not work right, I tried it, and it had my computer all screwed up for a day. I will just wait, I push every rendering we do.

STRAT
well one of the versions of vray free works with viz 3i, i used to use it. anyway, why not a spot of fakiosity, or even use the fabulous e-light plugin? trhoads
Thanks STRAT, I will try it out today. I may try VRAY again, if someone else has gotten it to work, then it might have just been an O.E.
