hi There

This recent Thread by Brian Cassil just gave me an Idea

http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10677

**

I need furniture modeling now!

This is big time urgent guys. I've got 6-10 pieces of furniture that I need to have done and back to me by Monday morning including texturing. I've e-mailed a couple people but I haven't heard back so I'm posting here.

**

would There be a good use to have a LIST of Freelancers who could help to work on a deadline for others

a List of People specifying what They could help out on, like

furniture, exterior, interior, modeling, lighting, texturing, etc

??

This might be a useful resource for someone who needs to get some extra help quickly on a big project

just an Idea

Thanks

Randy

I think opening a thread should give enough attention if someone is in need of custom furniture but it's a good thing to discuss here. I'm always in for sharing knowledge, so why not sharing time and/or modelling skills aswell. I kinda like that idea for some reason...

Good point,

Dennis

it could kind of work like an ebay system, maybe bid for the work and allow people to post comments back as to the quality, punctuality, service kind of thing to allow others to gauge people they may potentially give work to.

i imagine their would be many people interested.

what i have in mind is a short listing or description of what a 3d cg person could offer

like,

Name

Contact Info, email, FTP site if necessary

software version

computer specs

interior or exterior

modeling texturing lighting rendering, etc

specialty areas of interest

Metric vs Imperial

Type of construction experience (if it really matters)

approximate available hours during the week

approximate available hours during the weekend

TIME ZONE [This would be necessary to coordinte WORK TIME FLOW]

**

The idea of negotiating work Fees, Feedback on the quality of work, etc

are also great Ideas, i did not Think That far in advance just Trying To get

a LIST Together To help ourselves help each Other

Thanks

Randy

It's not a bad idea, and I've thought of it myself previously for the same reasons. The problem is that people go in and out of availability on a moment's notice. So seeing a list of 20 people whom you could hire might really be only a few or even none.

In some ways it maked more sense to do what Brian did, which is to say "I need help, who can do this?" and then whomever is interested contact him.

The problem with that is the person who wanted the work would need to monitor the board. But if 'need help' notices were all posted into ONE thread, people could subscribe to it and get an email whnever there was a post.

It's a nice idea but this is exactly the problem. In fact, there is someone that is very popular with a few of the members here who I had e-mailed before I even posted my thread. Well, it turns out that he is so popular that he was too busy to do my job. The thread I posted did exactly what I wanted and is working out perfectly so far. I think that's what the job board is for after all.
