yz1
I also had a clip snap....went to get a cup of coffee, came back and the PC had shut down through overheating. Open up and there's the fan and heatsink sitting at the bottom of the case. My pc supplier didnt believe me either... What's this pencil trick? Most athlons that were manufacturered were "crippled" versions of a faster chip. AMD did it, and still does, due to manufacturing lines preferences - cheaper to produce one product and "cripple" it, than building the cripple itself... This worked only on the older Athlons (thunderbird core) however. The newer Athlon XPs had all kind of other tricks, depending on their core. Greg Hess
Ya you can't do the pencil trick anymore. You have to first use some sort of fill material, to fill the laser cut gaps in on the surface. After that you can use either pencil (not perm), or a conductive pen to bridge the gaps.
