carlangas
Hi all, I have a problem with my file. im using max 6 with radiosity. I was building up my scene and did some test renders with no problems, as I imported more geometry from acad models as dwg and 3ds files something went wrong and didnt see it untill I recalculated the solution (90%) and when it finally finished it crashed. I did save it before that but it crashes as soon as I click on the view ports. i was able to render a few pics but cant change anything or it will crash. as soon as it finished rendering it crashed every time. if I open the file and reset the solution it will not crash and I can work on it but when I recalc. the solution the crashing never stops... so can anybody give me some advice on how to fix my file or keep this from happening. this has been a real nightmare I cant fix this one image and my client is going overseas and needs my work finished by today. thanks a lot I really need you experts help. JamesTaylor
When the light solution is calculated it is stored in the subdivision meshing and uses lots of memory which may be your problem. try reducing the meshing size so there is less strain on memory resources. other than that there may be some corrupt geometry in the scene which could cause it to crash. Try merging elements of the scene into a new file bit by bit and test it at each stage to see if it crashes. when/if it does you will know that something you just brought in is causing a problem. hope this helps
carlangas
Hi James, I think you're on the right track. Before I got my scene to crash I increased the meshing from .20m to .15. thinking that it may fix my "fire" on the couches problem. ill recalculate and see if that was the culprit... thanks... carlangas
yup, that fixed the crashing issue, however i still got that orange glow on the couch. thanks james, you've saved the day!!!
JamesTaylor
no problem, glad to be of help. the glow on the couches could be caused by light entering the crack between the cushions and bouncing around in there without being able to escape, creating an unnaturally bright spot if you see where i'm coming from. maybe try and adjust the geometry if there is a slight gap there or maybe try excluding it from part the radiosty calculations by using its property settings. carlangas
I changed the reflectance on the adv. mat. and that got rid of the glowing...
