Creating mountains "tutorial"

This tutorial is for creating mountains using the displace modifier...

you should end up with a scene like that

1- go to Create panel > Geometry > plane

& use these settings:

 

Length :500

Width :500

Length segs :200

Width segs : 200

scale :1

Density :2

 

2- now from the modify panel choose Displace ( make sure that you've selected Displace NOT Displace Mesh)

Now give the strength an amount of 180

 

3-Open your material editor

from the Material editor click Get material & choose Mask

 

4- Press The None button next to Map & choose Noise from the material browser & change those settings:

 

Noise type : Fractal

Size : 50

Levels : 10

then click Got to parent

 

Now click the None button next to Mask & choose Mask from the material browser

 

5- Now click None next to map & choose Noise

& change these settings :

 

Noise Type : fractal

Size : 65

Low : 0,15

Levels : 10

then click Go to parent

 

6- press None next to Map & select Mask

 

7- press the None button next to map & choose Noise from the map browser & change the settings

 

Noise type : Fractal

Size : 105

Hight:0,705

Low: 0,42

Levels: 10

phase : 0,5

 

8- Now press None next to Mask & choose Gradient from the material browser

 

Now we're finished from making the material ,all you have to do now is to:

 

9- click & drag the material you've just made to the button None next to Map in the Displace modifier

 

Now you should end up with a scence like mine....

 

Now Try to repeat the tutorial with your own settings ..Good luck
