chuck
our firm typically does a lot of school work and the interior renderings end up with 50+ fluorescent lights. i generally like the results that IES lights give, but the rendering time goes way up with that many lights casting so many shadows. i was wondering what most of you do in this situation...is there a more efficient option while still producing good renderings? do you just set up the scene as accurately as possible and wait? i'm using vray free, with viz 2005 on a dual xeon 3.4, 2gb ram. i've tried using a large direct light the size of the room, but i wasn't happy. thanks, chuck
Jeff Mottle
Depending upon the layout of the room you can usually use one big vray light to represent groups of lights that are in the center of the room and individual vray lights for any luminaires that are next to walls so you get the proper pnumbras on the walls. In some cases you might be able to get away with just a single vray light.
ihabkal
I did quite a few interiors for schools and Vray lights worked for me. simple rectangular shaped with soft shadows built in. they'r enot bad at all. you know the basic vray light item which doesn't have many features.
