mskin
im a little freaked out... had a $400 budget to upgrade machine (1.7g P4). decided to switch to AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 512K 90nm 939pin Venice (MB combo from pricewatch) and bought a radeon x700 pci express with 128 mb. ran me about $500, wife is going to shit bricks, but i think i did OK considering budget. Cant afford much more, but how did I do? Was AMD a bad choice? i've been reading that AMD outperforms intel chips but i notice everyone talking about thier Xeons. Why not opterons. I've always owned Intel chips and am a little nervous about the purchase.... commecnts?
AJLynn
You did good. Actually the prices you got aren't bad, assuming it's a half decent motherboard (there are some using chipsets like VIA K8M800 that save about $2 and are crap). Is your memory going to be compatible? For that price, Intel isn't competitive.
