Sketchrender
Good Evening. My problem:- I have modeled a site plan dwg'd it out. I File manger the dwg in in max7, that's fine. We are getting other buildings on the site modeled by someone externally, but they are shooting off the screen somewhere. If I zoom dynamic, I get four blank boxes. Can somebody please tell me how to reposition the buildings as i can't even find them. I am running Formz, and max 7, external models are coming in dwg I presum modeled in Autocad 2004/5. many thanks phil
JamesTaylor
i guess it will be because the models are not positioned at 0,0,0 in autocad. Check there position and see what happens. its always best to import / file link files that are positioned at 0,0,0 as paning and rotating works better this way in max, also rendering accuracy is lost as you move further away from 0 in max or viz
AJLynn
I usually do this kind of thing by having one Autocad file with many layers, importing the Autocad file, then whenever I want to add something new I can do it in Autocad on a new layer, use import again and select only the new layer - the new stuff will be aligned to the old stuff. Try taking the stuff from the outside files and putting it in new layers in the old file, then importing just those layers.
Sketchrender
Thank you very much , I will let you know how I get on. It's messy getting models from someone else. Typical though, panic. talk to you soon. phil
