... music playing on the background.... Ok well I was sittin in front of my mac trying to model something.. with C4D which i dont know how to use, one hour went by and nothing.. two hours went by and no model.. so I began so look for comparable software that runs on MAC to boost my productivity and... I found nothing. - so I was very skeptical, but I made the switch ! no on my Pc I have everything i am used to and more ! - GEt out of your MAC world and enter the real deal! GO PC !

Listen... I'm a big time mac-basher. I LOVE getting into it with mac people, since they are so funny to watch as they get manipulated by marketing untruths. BUT, there are a lot of great modeling tools available on a mac...

Lightwave, Maya, FormZ,... just to name a few.

There are also some great rendering tools available on a Mac

Lightwave, C4d, Renderman

so your argument about nothing being compatible on a mac is wrong...

MAX (and all of its rendering engines) are not compatible with the mac. Also, mac's (pre-G5) are pretty slow to do real 3D or real rendering. That I will give you....

So they getya back ;) Its always funny to watch Windows people when they risc everything and start working on new OS's, like Linux or Mac OS. Sooner or later they get back in fear they got assimilated :D

As Christopher mentioned, there are many options on the Mac, i have no clue why you get back to Max. Maybe because you can charge more because it takes longer to finish a project with Max ????? :p

Here is a little study in Mathematical Logic:

Theory:

Bad renderings come from bad artist

Proof:

The creator creates the image

Theory:

Good renderings come from good artist

Proof:

The creator creates the image

Theory:

There are a lot more bad artist then good ones

Proof:

Based only on experience, out of the 100+ demo reels that come to work every day, you are lucky if 1 is any good.

Theory:

People credit software/hardware for renderings

Proof:

Look at the amount of posts that are along the lines of "look at the cool Vray/Brazil/whatever image"

Theory:

People think that all software and hardware sucks.

Proof:

If 99% of the artist suck, and they create 99% of the images, and 90% of the images are credited to the software and hardware, then 89.1% will blame the software and hardware for sucking.

OK... I know this is sorta sucky logic, but the point is true. I've seen some amazing work that great artists have done 10 years ago on Amiga's.

While I am playing around telling you guys how happy I am that i sold a computer I wasn't using, I really dont want to be to have implied that Iam a retard for saying that 3ds produces better images; I am not a newbie - U know better than this. I make the pretty images (when I do/When they come out good) in 3ds b/c I am very comfortable with it.

Bah, lame excuse :p

Seems that Christopher has not enough to do, or he is doing the same stupid work i do now, so he too can afford writing long messages for this senseless thread.

Where is nisus when you need him :D

Well Ingo... you are right... you have noted my sharp increase in posts. I am in fact in a slow work period as I am preparing to work on another big movie to be released next year. So while I wait for the go word, I have the time to read and reply to posts. I have to admit that I have in the process, pushed a lot of peoples buttons, including yours.

As far as Cesar's point is concerned, I am sorry that you felt included in the very blanket statement I made. I DO know of your renderings, and I hate to think that I implied your work to be poor, which it is not. This is more related to dealing with finding talented people to work in the VFX indistry. As far as Mac's are concerned, there are plenty of artist at work that DO have Mac's at their desks, but they computers they brought in from home, and they are not used for graphics, but for websurfing and Itunes while the real computers do the real work.

Hi Christopher,

well, please don't care, i do not feel included, because i know my pictures are excellent  I just had my fun, and i guess cesar too.

And i am now not in a slow work period, i just have to modell endless walkways with decoration like rosette's ( i have to reconstruct them all) and so on. Very boring, and its now the second time, since the client changed the first attempt completely, but hearing some nice loud rock music and writing sensefree discussion messages definitely helps.

So whattaya doing at slowwork time like this, cleaning the desks ?

When I was working at a large VFX studio here, ALL 3d/vfx work was done on PCs and SGI workstations. The only department that used Macs were Matte Painting and a few rebels in Compositing who swore by AfterFX as opposed to Avid Illusion or Shake. These guys at the studio were seasoned professionals who knew their s#!t. Thus, you may draw your own conclusions.

Cheers
