I am not sure if DX9a is part of the new service pack 4, so i install that separately anyhow. I am not sure what the difference between DX9.0 and DX9.0a are. I know that I.E. 6.0 is NOT part of Service Pack 4, but i have actually found less problems with I.E. 6.0 since installing SP4. Up until that i did experience frequent enough problems with I.E. 6.0. Apparently I.E. 6.0 is the last standalone explorer package that MicroSoft is going to support free, of their operating systems. So all future upgrades of I.E. will only be possible by buying and installing the operating system upgrade.

MAC will not be having any more new versions of Internet Explorer after version 5.0. Poor MACs. There is a good talk about browsers in general here: http://www.aceshardware.com/forum?read=105020728 By all accounts though, browsers like Mozilla are much, much better and have nice features not available in I.E. I have even heard that Mozilla, Opera etc are better to use with alot of pages opened simultaneously.

I would also perhaps like to point you all to my 'shock' post here about MicroSoft's new 64-bit operating system requirments in terms of memory and storage capacity/bandwidth, power consumption of the actual drives etc, etc. 2 EXABYTES of NEW data is generated every year world wide and growing
