rachelC
i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction? i am having my 'debut' using vray advance. in the attached scene, I have 1 vray light with a multiplier of 1.2 white to light up the facade. could you tell me how can i get the white render on the facade to look white please? Many thanks
ihabkal
maybe you forgot to turn the light on? or maybe it's shining on the back. see the small back roof is white

ihabkal
switch to Vray shadows instead of raytraced shadows. problem solved
oyie
did you uncheck your default lights on global switches parameter
Sawyer
Have you tried upping the multiplier 1.2 is a bit small for a vray light. Also make sure the light is facing the model to illuminate it well. If the back roof is being hit the illumination may not be blanketing the right areas.
rachelC
thank you for all your help. by increasing the vray light to 2.0, i got the following render. Now, i have added a direct light (with ray trace shadow) to my scene as well as the vray light to try to get crips shadows. could someone tell me which settings this light should be for best results please? eg: the setting in the indirect illumination settings and also general parameters? In fact, any tips to make the attached image better would be brill. many thanks,
siliconbauhaus
The default settings are a good starting point with VRay. Your direct light should be set to VRay shadows not ray trace, never use ray traced anything with VRay. Here's some starter settings for you: GI ticked Irradiance map / Quasi Monte Carlo Irradiance Map: -4 -3 everything else default Environment ticked Your direct light: shadows ticked VRay shadow colour yellow/orange/white VRay shadow parameters: transparent ticked area shadow ticked sphere ticked subdivs 16 ( for straters ) Have a butchers over at http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpBB2/index.php?sid=0e97b870c57f2ea9d2816eba16efab37 or go to evermotion.org
cmeraz3d
Hello There. Well as siliconbauhaus says, you never should set your shadows to raytraced or any other, just Vray Shadows. I never put any vray light for exterior, i suggest to put that direct light and set the multiplier lower than 1, and just play with the envioronment override multiplier, and of course the Indirect Illumination, allways Irradiance Map, and for second bounces Quasi Monte Carlo
