I am a 3D illustrator, produce all kinds of work, mainly architectural illustrations though. with that all being said, i also do hand drawn illustrations in my sparetime, and i would like to ask... if anyone would not mind, taking a look at my website? as bad as it is. but to just comment on my drawings, are they good or bad? i know its a personal thing really, but any feed back from the professional sector is all good. thanks.....please goto www.cglinearts.co.uk
pancake_man
 Your stile is good, but i advise you to add contrast and deepness to the drawings that have a perspective and so on .... Of course it's up to you but in some cases it's good to underline some important features.... That gives deepness and a good mood to your pictures..... P.s. Sorry for my English..... cgtiger
thanks for the advice, what you said does make alot of sense, i tried that on one of the coal mine images, using more contrast techniques towards the centre of the image, basically to draw you into it, but i have to be care also, it does get too carried away, with it just being lines that shade it, but i have taken on board what you say, and will give it a try. thanks
William Alexander
Christopher, Old world flavor with modern ingredients, awsome. I admire the patience and techinical skills required to do this caliber of work. A couple of ideas given with respect of your work- Dynamic contrast is weak in many. The images that have "white space" are the most dynamic and interesting. Not lacking in texture but either line wieght, tone or spacing are to dark. For example; sky and clouds on a bright day- pencil use a harder lead with a fine piont, same line spacing as is typical in your style- Ink consider watering down ink for a grey scale/tone, same tip and typical spacing. Both allow the texture & feel increasing the the contrast, without losing the flavor, imho. On the same note, the focus or subject of the illustration can be be "bumped" out. Heavier edges maybe, greater "white sapce"-specular illum. And instead of "texture", view the subject fills as "pattern" or even "design". Or for fun invert all of the above :angeuhoh: brgrds WDA
cgtiger
thanks for the great advice, will try and do what i can, to accomplish some of them elements, i understand what you say by using different tones of grey to help push the image back, into say differernt layers etc. i.e the clouds. but the whole point of what i do, is not to use grey or any other colours but just black, sillhouette effect against the paper if you like, i use 3 different pens to achieve my drawings, a .18 .25 .35 rotring pens (architectural drawing pens), but i guess you know what they are. so hopefully you can see where i am trying to go with them, one tone, different thinkness, different spacings between lines, etc etc etc, to achieve the drawings. but i will deffinetely try and work more contrast into the illustrations...may i add, i'm priviliged also to recieve such good advice from a professional as yourself, whom understands the whole process of where i am a coming from. great. cglinearts hand drawings various CG work
