AJLynn
Hi guys, anyone have a tutorial on how to cast shadows on 2D views in photoshop? or maybe if it's possible uner acad, that would be fine too. The way I'm doing it know is my hatching a solid color... any suggestions? Thanks I do this all the time on things like site plans, using Illustrator (which is great for post on Autocad files - take the edge that is casting the shadow, copy it at a 45 degree angle, close the loop and fill it with black at 50% transparent. You could accomplish the same thing in Autocad using offset, hatch and make the hatch a color that has a screen in the pen table. Simplest way to do it is the think of the sun at 45 degree elevation coming from southeast or southwest, the shadow length is the height of the object doing the casting. P.R.S. Sivakumar .
You can acquire a Photoshop plug-in like Alien Skin's Eye Candy - a set of filters - and one of them is perspective shadow. You can create an outline of the object with lasso or whatever and then copy paste it at the same place on a new layer and then use this filter to cast shadow. You can turn the shadow, stretch it, etc. Or you can use Gimp - a freeware opensource software - equivalent to Photoshop and this has a built-in plug-in of perspective shadow. It is a great freeware from OpenSource. Hope this is of some use to you. PRSS
