Of RAM optimizers and Defragmenters

Recommended Posts

Are any of you guys here using such system utilities? Are these utilities useful in tandem with a resource hungry program such as 3DSMAX?

I noticed that rendering speeds are reduced while this kind of utility is enabled. But if they are also disabled, my system gradually begins to crawl that only a reboot can bring it back to normal speeds.

How do you guys manage system memory with regards to 3D programs?

I use windows built in defrager to maintain fragmentation levels. Its based off diskkeeper lite, and is actually a pretty decent defragger...considering it doesn't cost anything extra.

As for ram optimizers....I usually just keep the loaded apps to a minimum. Lots of the ram leaks which occur are due to apps running in the background, like aim, various webservices, soundfx packages, etc etc.

You shouldn't encounter any major ram problems if your machine is optimized and generally clean. (Only the work apps installed).

I agree with Hess, for the problem of RAM, you just avoid to download and install any stuff which is not for your works. And prevent software to load in background. and the price of ram is really cheap now, upgrading of ram is most significant method.

i experience some fatal error of harddisk when i use standalone defrag programme such as norton speedisk and diskeeper, my advice is stay on the default one come with Computer Management of Win2k and WinXP, that's very enough.

i hope this can help your problem
