ecastillor
I recently bought the dosch hdri collection and im starting to use mess with it. I have some questions: 1.- I have no idea how to view this files and choose wich one suits me better. 2.- Also, in vray, what is the best way to use them? I use them as a hd map in the difusse slot of a vray mat. then, from the enviroment i choose it from the material editor as an enviroment or for reflections... but i have no idea if to use angular map, cubic enviroment, spherical env, or morrored ball.... any ideas? JamesTaylor
i don't bother with vray's hdri map, instead just import it to a free slot in the material editor. from there i find the best way is to instance it into the overide lighting and reflection slots of the environment panel in the render dialog box. i always use the maps set to enviroment and spherical - but it depends on the type you bring in. hope this helps
ihabkal
it doesn't throw shadows... should it? thanks
JamesTaylor
the shadows will be very diffuse because it is illuminating the scene with ambient light. adjusting the bounce values and multiplier will make a difference but having a light that acts as the sun is the best way to produce shadows whilst using a HDRI
