markf
I built a system with the above mentioned ASUS MB and am quite happy so far. Two problems I encountered- The first power supply I bought had the wrong type of connector for attaching to the MB. Had to get a much more expensive one. As I recall ther were only two choices and I took the more costly on some advice received here. The two XEON procs I got form NewEGG had different core steppings and would not work together. I tried, unsucessfully, to find a place that could gaurantee shipping matched procs. Ended up reordering two more from Newegg and they came, thankfully, matched. They refunded my originals in full but there seemed to be a time limit to the return that i almost missed. hope this helps a bit. good luck! Ernest Burden III
Two problems I encountered- The first power supply I bought had the wrong type of connector for attaching to the MB.I got bitten by that one recently, too. I haven't tried to build/re-build a machine for a while. I didn't know that there is now a new type of ATX MB that has the second power connector. These are called ATX+12v not to be confused with ATX (which supplies, of course, 12v). I just bought another supply, the previous one is here on the floor next to the previous motherboard. Greg Hess
Since mine hasn't crashed once in over a year of pretty much nonstop use... The supermicro X5DAE. You'll need an EPS power supply though. (The expensive kind).
garethace
How many clams did the mobo set you back Greg? Exactly which wattage of PSU did you end up going for in the end? Is the model in here by any chance? http://www.pc-pitstop.com/power_supplies/ Case Mod have an explanation of EPS here: http://www.case-mod.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=463 Lost circuits are probably about the best dealing with mobos at the present. http://www.lostcircuits.com/advice/robanton/ here is a PSU review they did when you would have built your system Greg. garethace
yeah, I have been pricing the Gamexx for people, and comparing the price with Dell offerings. I am getting quite used to using online currency converters too!
