if you're totally new to it - pick up the manual from page 1 and go through it

 

if you're familiar with previous autocads - i usually just play with the new functions until i discover what they can do for me

print out all the shortcuts, highlight the most important (line (L), polyline (PL), copy (CO), trim (TR), extend, arc, move, distance, etc...)and post it next to your computerscreen. work together with an autocad-professional to learn his tricks. use the spacebar instead of enter. the best is learning by doing an actual project and knowing who to ask when you get stuck.

ACAD 2006 has a new DYNAMIC IMPUT feature that lets you turn off your commad bar and see the commands and system promps on the screen. It also gives you graphical feedback on distances and angles. One of the most attractive UI enhancements. Also, Tables in 2006 have been greatly improved to now work very much like an excell spreadsheet so look into those.

what is the fatest way to learn autocad 2006?

 

Without any knowledge of it I first started using Autocad 2005 20 weeks ago and changed to Autocad 2006 about 4 weeks ago because a family member wanted CAD drawings for a new build project in a Richard Rogers building in London. I found by using it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week helped immensely and have now embarked on using 3dsmax7 and have had an offer to model for a small vizualisation company.

 

My advice would be to get on it for as long as you can a day without p**sing off your wife. After all, this is where the money is, right?
