superbimperial
I have modelled this pool and rec centre in Archicad, used the exchange tool and imported into C4D. The rounded shapes surrounding pool and round fence posts have come through with jagged edges but others like round columns are fine. Have found this a lot with door handles as well. Any ideas that will solve this problem? Russ
STRAT
the jagged curve problem sounds like a common cad-3d app problem. to get smooth curves out of cad you must face them up yourself. dont rely on just giving a circle a thickness and doing it that way as it wont work. superbimperial
Not sure what you mean by facing up. How would this work with objects like door handles where there are no settings other then the material. Curved walls of pool were made using archicad slabs. So there is no control over faces or normals.
STRAT
dunno how archicad works, but in autocad for instance instead of giving a circle a thickness you actually rulesurf of face up the loft instade, so you have physical faces there instead of a extrusion. or of course, model it in solids. Wokka
Russ, I had this problem with R7. Now I'm on R9 (C4D) and R8.1(ArchiCad), the problem seems to have gone away. What version are you using and what attributes are you exporting out of Archicad? Cheers
superbimperial
Wokka We are using archicad 8.1 and Cinema4d 8. When exporting from 3d window scale is 1000 material radio button with lights and cameras turned off. Does this give us a good reason to get ver9 Russ
Wokka
Russ, Maybe you can test it with the demo version? If you want, send me a small *.pln and a *.ac4d of the area (I'm PC) and I'll test the export for you. (fun-at-3de-dot-com-au). Cheers
Ace_Face
Seeing that this thread is being taken care of here I closed the "duplicate" one that was started in the ArchiCAD forum.
