ashisheetal01@hotmail.com
First of all I like to thank all of you for asking great questions and giving great feedbacks. I have a couple questions about this field. I can’t decide on which field to pursue. I am interested in Architectural Visualization and Architecture. I really love the 3d rendering because it is something new, interesting, enjoyable, but is it enough to make good money for a relaxed family life and a lasting business? On the other hand Architecture is a well know profession and has good money if I have my own business, but the downside is the long time to become licensed, all the codes that need to be followed, the technical drawings, and the risk. I have always wanted to become an architect, but never got into the technical parts of it. While going through High School and College all this 3d stuff has been booming. Three years ago I received my bachelors form an art school in Interior Design and a minor in 3d modeling. Currently, I work for an architect, in which I do designs of industrial buildings and renderings of them. I am also learning the valuable aspects of architecture. Also as a side interest I am a part-time Interior Design Instructor at the art school I graduated from in the suburbs of Chicago. I teach three levels of AutoCAD, which starts of from basic AutoCAD and ends up with final renderings in 3D Max. With the current status I feel as though time is running out even though I am only 27 and have been working for 3 years. I’ve never gotten use to doing one thing over and over. I have always loved changes. That is why I still teach at nights even though I work full-time at the architectural firm, and that is why I love computer programs because they are always changing. What do you think about this new field and the future that lies ahead? How is the architectural visualization business financially? Is this a good business to pursue for the long run? Looking for good advise because I don’t know anyone else who knows more about this field better than the people of this forum and site. Thanks for all your help, and I hope I can continue asking for everyones helps. Ashish
ihabkal
most architects tell me that they hate to go to meetings many times a week, and that they have less and less time to design, and most renderers tell me that they hate working 60 hours a week....I guess to really know you need to dive in and try for yourself. I guess the happiness of the person in any of those two professions depends on his own special case...It's a love/hate relationship. I love doing renderings, yet lack of sleep, vacations (haven't sene my father in 4 years), and the pressures really make me depressed. I don't want to do pure architecture, even though I have a Bachelor degree that I worked hard for, because I love renderings so much...
