Making Grass

Hallo everybody:)

 

For some time now I've been trying to make some neat grass, but havent really been able to get a decent result, so I was hoping somebody could / would give me a helping hand. I would really appriciate it (hope that's spelled correct).

 

I was looking for something like this:

Hi there,

 

'displacement' could be added as a map, or a modifier, depending on the program I guess. I am talking about Max.

 

It does require some more complex mesh than a simple plane, but it's worth it!

 

Post some attempts when IU try it out.

Hi guys,

This is actually the first time I attempt to join such intyeresting convesations and its really gr8 how every1 here tries to help the other :)

Anyways the grass subject is interesting...but TRAP I've tried this displacement map for about 2 hours and still no result in what i want....can u give me another clue...I am actually using a bitmapo which is white/black and other times I try using images but still not that gr8 effect...can any1 help plz?

Tommy L - I get almost the exact same look with my Vray grass.... it looks OK, but not great. I think you need to scale down your UVW-mapping so the grass-strands get much thinner...

If you only need to put grass on a small surface then Vray Fur looks great... but if you fill a lawn with that stuff its gonna render forever....
