Msamir
Hi whats a proceduring map ?
ecastillor
It will all depend in what renderer U R using.... a displacement map is a regular image that actually modifies your geometry... do a search on displacement..... Here ist a house i did with vray and used a simple displacement map on the grass..... http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=7018
JamesTaylor
eduardo, can you post the setting you used for the grass? maybe a couple of screen shots too. thanks
nhj84
Hey again That looks very interesting ecastillor. I'l try to do a search on displacement, since I have no idea what it is. By the way I use a demo of Vray, or mental ray.
vertexART
Hi there, 'displacement' could be added as a map, or a modifier, depending on the program I guess. I am talking about Max. It does require some more complex mesh than a simple plane, but it's worth it! Post some attempts when IU try it out. Cheers

nhj84
Hallo again! Hey that displacement isn't that stupid. I've been playing with it the last few hours and have got some ok results. They aren't perfect yet, fare from actually, but I'll get there. here's the tutorial I used. if anyone's interested I could try to post the result (if I ever get one). http://www.x-opher.com/3d-rendering/lawn-tutorial/

nhj84
Hey. I'll post my setting and a render i a day or two. Haven't had time to finish up, which kind og sucks. I have som problems with some bump maps, on a wooden deck so....
skogskalle
Tommy L - I get almost the exact same look with my Vray grass.... it looks OK, but not great. I think you need to scale down your UVW-mapping so the grass-strands get much thinner... If you only need to put grass on a small surface then Vray Fur looks great... but if you fill a lawn with that stuff its gonna render forever....
