Hao La
The Topic is "MentalRay render tryout 4 all" Just opened your scene and the problem is the units , did you model in real-world units ?. I will post the test soon
Hao La
here's mine, hiding the glasses Edited in Photoshop
TraP
the reflection on the floor is incorrect.. try smaller noise...
Hao La
there're a lot kind of floor , it's depended how its condition, new or old and its enviroment , with the huge window and lightning like that the floor is supposed to be like that. There's no noise be used
TraP
but i still thinging taht there is a problem with reflection..
Hao La
I think it's OK though , with the bg like that it will kick up the specular . But I still get your comments , thanks.
mohamedberry
well, i modeled it on CAD then imported the dwg to max... i'm sure i'm using correct units in max, but not sure about the CAD's. anyway i gave it another try and here is the result i got. it took 5:27 hours to render !! dont know why
Hao La
Here is your problems : the GI photon perlights is smaller than photon per sample and you gotta check off "use file" , and I still think about the units cause when 1st time I rendered it was like you did
enigma
Here are my settings I set the scene so that only the main light generates the GI. Its decay is 1.85 GI photons 200000 Samples 5000 Volume 1000 No FG but composited with a AO (ambient occ) pass. Render times: GI pass: 15 mins @ 1600 res.....AO pass: 5 mins @ 1600...both are reduced to lessen the noise. Post work in PS
mohamedberry
fantastic render guys... i fixed the units issue on max, and the photons too... but still got a dark scene bryan can u please post more settings like ur sampling raduis & trace depth, actually if u print-screen ur settings that'll be eaier & much more usefull thanx for ur time
enigma
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/neto5enigma/settings.jpg Hi mohamed, here are the printscreens. Hope this helps. Btw, For the AO pass, don't forget to hide the glass. Put a white BG as well so you won't need to add an omni at the middle. thanks
mohamedberry
thanx bryan... i'll post my result tomorrow
Hao La
enigma : good settings , how about the AO pass , it repaced for FG right ? how you do it cause I ont know that much , is it dirtmap ???
Atom
Great rendering Enigma but i noticed under your exposure settings you have logarithmic exposure control checked. Is this a mistake or do you use this exposure control with your AO pass and GI pass. Thanks
enigma
@ hao Thanks man...yes it's a dirt map. @adam I used the exposure control for my GI pass only. to control the overall exposure of my scene. It's not usually the case but i used it for this one. Because of the large openings i found it hard to control the brightness so that's how i got through it. Thanks
mohamedberry
ok here is my update... i added one omni with ambient only to the scene to brighten it alittle, took a while to render though (1:55hrs). modified on photoshop.
