Hi,

 

Can anyone help me with a little Mental Ray problem? Ive not dabbled that much with it and could do with some help. I am trying to create colour bleed through the purple and blue objects in the scene, can anyone help with this?

What you're looking for is caustics, right? That's when light passes through or reflects off something, hits something else, you see it refracted, yadda yadda yadda...

 

Take a look at the tutorials that come with Max - there is good stuff on using mental ray and caustics, wouldn't hurt to read up on use of the mental ray material either.

i'm not if ur after the GI or the caustics.

Thanks guys, but even with caustics and GI turned on i still dont get the desired affect. Even with final gather??

What type of material are you using? Architectural? Standard? MR? something else?

 

Tried FG only?

Hi,

 

I am using MR glass. It may have been the file, it was created in Max 6. I created a new scene and caustics (see below) is working fine now thanks.
