Adehus
This rendering still has some obvious problems- geometry on the TV has a mind of it's own and the flowering cherry looks like cotton candy because of the clip maps not working. Still, I've been staring at this too long, and would appreciate any comments from others on problems that I can't see.
ihabkal
composite a tree in photoshop...better, cleaner, less rendering time, flexibility...
enigma
how long was the render time? may i ask for the settings?
mohamedberry
i totally agree with ihab, for the exterior inviroment simply save your rendering as TGA (to save the transparency) then add whatever u like on a back layer on photoshop.
IC
That looks ok but the problem here is you've touted this as a 'Maxwell' render rather than 'your' render and we're coming to expect really outstanding things from Maxwell. As this render stands, I'd say it needs work on the subject rather than lighting or image quality. The room looks basic and dull, rather than minimalist and contemporary and the furniture is poorly arranged. If you're doing the interior design yourself, look at some magazines or ask the architect (if any) for some input. I get my wife (or the guys here) to help as it's a skill in it's own right and I know my limitations
Hao La
I agree with IC , not much tweak or struggle with maxwell render, the only thing that matters is your works, your model.
Adehus
Thanks for the responses... these are all good points. I guess I made the point that it's a Maxwell rendering because I've just assembled parts from past projects for the purpose of testing Maxwell out. No doubt the my hastiness has something to do with my disillusionment with it... I was more involved with trying to explore Maxwell than with taking the time to get the fundamentals right first. Enigma- Render time was around 4 hours on a dual 2.5ghz G5, and lighting is physical sky with sun. Can't remember F-stop, etc... I adjusted them while rendering. Hao La
I hear that maxwell is really easy to setup , just a plane with emitter mat and turn on the skylight in render parameter then click render and wait like 3 or more hour , is that true ?
otacon
Sure its that easy if you want the same old look, but to take maxwell to the next level you have to spend some time with your lighting and surfaces.
Hao La
yeah and that's damn hard to make materials without preview , it's like guessing games
pRonto
hi there, the camera angle looks high, making the scene look like a rendering of a model. have you downloaded, the recent beta, it let's you use HDR files to light your scene. the render times increase, but now allows a different background. another alternate to try to give a different mood to your scene. clipmaps are still not working. i'm finding that the maxwell materials are limiting, at the moment, if you want to use bitmaps. let's see what the next beta has in store for us. Adehus
Yeah, the viewing angle is a little odd, primarily because of a wall behind me. I considered taking it out, but it would seriously effect the lighting solution. This one's just a test... I'm now working on something a little more ambitious that hopefully will show off Maxwell's strengths more. I have the beta, but on OSX I haven't been able to work well w/MXI files... waiting to see what the future holds for me on that one. As you said, materials are also still a problem... you can see that I don't have any texture maps in this render. The C4D plugin is working much better with textures now, but it's still not 'there' yet. IMHO, NextLimit is being a little optimistic in calling this release a beta.
