aluigi
Ok guys I have decided. As i cannot spend thousands, i am going to get the quadro4 xgl 980 (A$1250). Question: will this card also render faster that a fx 5900 gforce or is only going to be fast for working faster with big models? I would appreciate your opinion. Thanks
Greg Hess
Video cards don't determine rendering speed.* They mainly effect the speed and interactivity of the viewport. Asking whether or not you "need" a better video card is a personal decision. You can easily get by modeling with any video card, even running software emulation. Some might even say it makes you a better artist to do so. You just have to learn to use instances, actors, display floater, optimize, and minimalize poly counts. Many people are happy with a 60 USD Geforce 5200 FX. Maybe you should try some cheaper solutions out before breaking the bank. *=With exception given to the pureART line, and Maya 5's GPU renderer. aluigi
Greg Thank you very much for the advice. I was going to get the quadro but now i am not sure anymore. I have a ti 4800 se running at 650mhz- it is a special edition of the ti 4200 with speed equal to the 4600 and 8x agp. i think it is ok but i always wanted to buy a pro card (only if the differents in speed is significant)As the render time is not effected by v/card than i think i can live with my gf4 ti card. cheers
