mr. a
This is my first official rendering using Radiosity (although I have attempted numerous unfinished projects). I started using the architectural materials in max but had a hard time adjusting them- particularly the reflections and final colors. I ended up switching to standard materials for the difficult materials (particularly the entry doors with slight reflections of the chairs).............also found myself scaling light intensities like crazy......... anyway, don't be nice- let me have it: what could be better? I hnow it's not an exciting design but that is the actual case (except the chairs) and the floor is honed not polished :>)

DennisHolland
Well, not bad at all for a first (serious) radiosity-render attempt. You've took control of the usual major colourbleeding caused by the red objects very well. One little thing, but one that will pull up the entire render is to have your cam on eye level (6 ft or 1.75 mtr). Maybe a little to the back and less focal adjustment. Try to have your lens somewhere around 30 if possible. Again, nice study here. Dennis
mr. a
Thanks.........The space is really narrow, but I wet over board with the lense angle_ I think it is at 24 or even 20. Any pointers on reflections in radiosity?
DennisHolland
Yes, I thought the angle is somewhat extreme I can not deal with a good image quality with angles under 28. For reflections when using radiosity; it's true that glossiness is pretty much gone but reflections are what they are and should not be influenced by the radiosity so just use a raytrace .mat for your floor add a fallof in the refl. slot > leave it default. Set the refl. strength in your maps rollout to 20 for a start and tweak it (probably down to about 12 or so for a cool marble floor without a wetlook) a bump of 10 / 15 will break it up nicely. For some addons, I'd say 'less is more' here so just one slim plant and a magazine on the table will do fine. Take care, Dennis
