jamming room (vray-test)

Recommended Posts

One word...perfect.

Its very photo realistic and in my opinion cant be faulted. How much of the modeling did you do, i recognise the seating from somwhere. Can you post your Vray settings for me, along with your lighting settings? I want to know how you get great results like this?

Thanks Philip,

the drums, trumpet and chello are de Espona's, chair-concept by exchange 3D but redone by me and held as a reference for the sofa, the rest is customly designed/modeled by yours trully :D

Later on I will make some snaps of the vray settings to check 'm out. I like to recieve some more feedback from the others too, especially on how to deal with the bounces on the ceiling and a longer travel of the rays from the vray-lightingplanes in the windows.

Thanks again man,

Dennis

first of all - its a damn nice render! and if it is your first try with Vray then im really impressed.

you have a lightleak where the walls touch the cieling (spelling?) mainly on the right side of the image. this can be avoided by giving the walls and cieling some thickness (i bet they are just planes now right?) OR I think you can get rid of the leak by changing the "secondary rays bias" to 0 in the Global Switches menu. do a search over at chaoticdimensions forums... lots of threads about it there.

I think the image would look even better with higher GI settings too... although that will ofcourse increase rendertimes alot too...

Its hard to get enough light in a room this big using only the Vray lights at the windows. I think you could increase the multiplier on the windowslights a bit. And then maybe its simpler to brighten it a bit in post?

Brilliant Render!!

a couple of minors i spotted:

the dog bowl seems to be floating a little and i think the displacement of the carpet is a bit heavy, maybe a finer/thinner displacement would be better. Also, i can't decide myself, but there seems to be something a little off with the exterior image - i'm not sure what but my eye was drawn to it.

comments are very minor issues as the render is supurb overall.

Yeah Dennis! Suoerb!....as detailed as always...love it!

Inly I agree on the bachground image...it seems to have two different horizons....like two different pictures or two skys, one on top of another....looks a bit strange.....

Anyway....congrats! post some settings man!

First a big thanks to all of you guys for the very cool feedback. I'll getr back to each post later today when I'm finito 'doing the books'....

Here are some of the most important settings in the render dialogue to check out, hope there's something wrong because I don't like the ceiling being illuminated a bit messy. For the rest I'm pretty confident with it, especially the material-preparation which is a quicky in vray compared to Brazil (I'm a Brazil fan)....

your Images are Truly awesome, great work

Thanks for posting your settings on This Image, too

i am still lurking at Vray forums until i can buy Vray

one minor comment (non architectural non cg even)

The object on The left between The bitmap on The wall

of The Treble cleff and The Cello, what is THAT??

it looks like it is a cello bow? but it appears To be bigger Than The cello

just idle curiousity

Thanks again for The inspiration and sharing your settings

your work and This website are great Inspirations to improve

my humble efforts

Guys...

Dexter: carpet is a simple noisemap in the vray-displacement slot with a setting of 20 and a basic beige diffuse. Settings are allready in this thread. Thanks for the compliment.

Kalle: Thanks man. Yes, this is really the first render (did have some startup probs with the renderer but it's rather easy to grasp). Still, if Brazil release V2.0 with the promised bounciness for interiors...hhmmm who knows. It's hard to have a nice clean ceiling in the beginning using vray without the saturation but maybe I get a good hint for that some day.

James: Thanks! My dogs' (senna) bowl is perfectly grounded but it has rounded edges so that might give us the illusion of floating. The carpet is sheeps' fur and in Holland sheeps are very hairy ;-) Great for sweaters. I shoot the backdrop behind my appartment from the 7th floor and exactly straight horizontal, the cam is also straight forward I don't know what it is but I'll try to take care of that.

Eduardo: Also thanks man! It's just one backdrop but as said, i'll take care of that. Got any suggestions for the settings to improve? There must be something that will fix the bad ceiling-saturation. Overall i like the lighting, but that ceiling man...

Randy: Thanks. The object on the left of the cello is the thing you pull along the snares ;-) It's too big, it's sunk into the floor so that ain't right. I'll fix that asap...

One more thing, anybody know a good hotel with a bed and a lock on the door somewhere near the music centre for the gathering at the 3th of aug?

Dennis
