Aaron2004
Hello! I am going to need to render lots of residential elevations fairly quickly. The Models are created as a biproduct of our design software, so I am going to use MAX to texture and light and occasionaly create animated walkthroughs. To make this process go faster, I would like to set up a default scene with basic lighting that I don't really need to change. I have tried Skylight, which seems to be 3D Studio's 'Make-Nice-Button'. This makes the house look great, but not realisitic...just a really good CG pic. I then tried HDRI, but it didn't seem to work as nice I would have liked. I tried combining skylight with a directional light to make a more distinct shadow and still didn't get exactly what I wanted...it didn't work out that great. What do you guys use? What lighting setup? I don't have nor want to purchase brazil or V-Ray, even though I realize that may help out a lot. All I have is the scan-line renderer and Mental Ray. Thank you! enigma
Maybe you could post a sample scene so that everybody can try it out using their own arsenal.
vertexART
Hi there, as a quick MR light setup, I would suggest 'daylight' system which has a directional and skylight in it. Configure it manually, with 1.0 multipliers for both lights, decrease shadow density on 0.8, turn on FG with some reasonable sampling and pray. Hope it helps. Aaron2004
Thanks a lot guys for the advice and the offers. I actually got it worked out fairly well now after tweaking a skylight, a directional light and using mental ray. Vertexart, I tried your idea...and it is what I want in theory, but the directional light was very bright (about 66 mulitplier), and I couldn't change it. Why is that? Thanks everybody! Why is that?Aaron Hi there, select the light>modify panel>'position section'> check manual, instead of default Date,Time,Location... now U can change whatever U need. Hope it helps.
