Monitor Adjustments Arhggg!?

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a VeiwSonic P220f. Got a good scratch and dent deal, $300us savings! Plugged it in and set it up, no major problems at first. I'm using a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 and adobe gamma, res at 1600x1200. Now after 2 weeks I'm noticing the focus is terrible. Re-worked the entire screen set up, size, position, convergence, focus adn so on. I just can not get a reasonable focus.

What is a good procedure for setting up from scratch, less color matching, with the plethera of adjustments avialable?

Please help me save my 20-20 vision, or at least it used to be two weeks ago

Thanks

WDA

I've got the same monitor, and mine has a soft focus too. It sits next to a Viewsonic 19", and you can really notice how soft it is in comparrison. I'm pretty sure it's been like this since I purchased it new, about 16 months ago.

I wonder if it's a product of all monitors this size?

I would suggest a few simple things first off that may be affecting your focus.

1. check and see if your monitor cable is running near any power cords or speaker wires.

2. move any speakers away from the monitor(yes even though they may be sheilded they can still effect focus)

3. adjust the OSD focus settings

4. if that does not work and you feel comfortable taking the cover off your monitor you can adjust the focus internally as well, I recently had to do this on my G90F. WARNING the inside of your monitor is a dangerous place and cause SERIOUS harm to ones person. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself you can take it to a service center and for 80 bucks or so they should be able to refocus it that way.

wda,

I have never worked on a TV before but from what I have been told they are similar, usual a series of slotted knobs that you should use a nylon set of screwdrivers to adjust. Tricky bit was always getting documentation on what each pot, I believe thats what the knobsare called. And it is better but more dangerous to adjust it while it was on....the part I didn't like.

PS. I have also run across some monitors that DONT have adjustments, worked my way through college as an IT tech.
