Elevator Lobby

I like it. Nice painting and lighting around the bench. Sconces look really good in my opinion (maybe just a bit too hot).

There appear to be two repeating spots in the texture image for the wood paneling. If you photochop'd those out the repeat would be less noticable.

I like the tile skirt around the walls and the material looks good. But using the same material only larger for the 'border' on the floor pattern does not look good. I would make a new tile color in Adobe from your white tile and use that - right now I think there is to much contrast in color and/or texture.

Perhaps lighten the foreground and area where the artwork is on the side. Looks a little gloomy/dark right now in the foreground.

How about a soffit in the ceiling with some cove lighting or as the previous post suggested put in the fixtures so that the ceiling is less boring.

The 'control' panel/button/display between the elevators is on top of a panel seam. To me that is distracting, but maybe it has to be there.

What are the round things on either side of the bench - planters, ash trays, or tables. If they are tables a couple of magazines would help - but the shape is off a bit for some reason.

Adding just a bit of chamfer to the cushion would help - doesn't need much I think, just less sharp corners.

Please post an update.

I tried to create the double spotlight look on my image earlier today, I was unable to figure it out. Would you please post as to how you create the look coming from the ceiling onto the wall using the two spotlights. I'm using Max with free Vray download. I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks for the comments.

mwhite- good points you made. The tile is a choice of the client so I can't change it. The update has a few changes, they removed the wood floor inlay and desaturated the tile a little. They also changed the bench and drums. The drums in the image above are oval shaped. The bench and drums are actually what the client is selling. They are looking for a minimal approach to this installation scene. The client knows best, right?:)

jophus14 - The spot lights are ies, "point stadium.ies" and I adjusted the intensity way down.

Heres an update of the scene. A few changes by the client but pretty much done. They want a minimalist look for the scene so theres not much in it except their furniture pieces. This is going to be printed at poster size for the client. Any suggestions on the resolution for a 36" wide image? I was thinking 150 dpi.

Further suggestions would be appreciated, I'm sending it to them Tuesday.

very nice image. Other then staggering the wood grain ( as mentioned above ) I think you have a winner.

I render all my images out at 3000x2100. Then in photoshop, I change the res. to 300dpi, making the image 10x7. This has been working great for me, for small prints and large prints.

Looks really nice! I think the client will be very happy. For your portfolio/library I would still go into the texture and remove the 2 repeating dots. But anyone else is probably not going to notice. Again very nice rendering and 150 dpi should be fine at that size.

BTW are you free to share the painting file or let us know where they can be obtained? I really like that painting and it also fits well in your rendering.

Thanks for all the comments. I tried to change the wood texture on the wall but the client wanted it the way it was. I did take out the dots!

This was done in vray. I used 10 ies lights for the walls the rest are vray lights for fill. Render time was 5:15 with lightcache for secondary.

The paintings are from http://www.wallartamerican.com/, great site for all styles of paintings.

This is the final image I sent to them. I rendered the final at 36" x 27" 150 dpi and it turned out nice. At least thats what they said.
